Yeah, this may give us back a little bit of the lead time that I was afraid that we had lost over that other software company. I had been hoping for a good 6 months of VDJ Mac being out before they implemented video, hopefully this will cause them to push back their release to coincide with Leopard's release essentially using Apple's delay as a scapegoat.

I'm always looking forward to new releases from Apple and Atomix, but not before they're done.

What specifically in LEAPORD is holding back video development in VDJ?


I mean the videos play in quicktime?

I dont understand why the H.264 video wont play. Perhaps there a bug in the OS that I dont understand.

I thought H.264 (which i guess is what you mean by videos not playing, as Divx videos play fine) was an open standard.

the other software company already has their video mixing software working perfectly on current mac os (tiger), so i don't think they'll need to wait for leopard before they do release. that other software already supports h.264 as well.

actually, i'm not really sure why vdj on mac does not support h.264. if the video plays in quicktime, and you set vdj to use the quicktime codec,.. shouldn't vdj be able to play the h.264 video?

Looks like although Atomix has the upperhand on the other company in terms of handling different video formats (as well as other features and benefits), the other company has an upperhand on Atomix by having been supporting Mac OS X for years now like every other major digital turntablist/dj solution.

I'm confident Atomix and Numark come out on top though. =)

Remember, Mac OS X's graphics engine is OpenGL, a far superior engine than DirectX.

vista is just now trying to catch up to what Apple brought us visually with the introduction of Quartz Extreme in Mac OS X 10.2 Jaguar... back in 2002.

microsoft vista is 5 years behind Mac OS X and just now trying to catch up, but 10.5 Leopard will leap past vista another 3-5 years this fall. ;)
