Before you invest any money in any more equipment or software, I would suggest being a roadie for an established DJ. Another option would be to try and work for a multi op. Before taking responsibility for the success of and event or a night in a club, you need to make sure you have not only all the right songs, you need to know when to play them. Most DJ's would be willing to let you tag along if you help load in and out. Call around and ask a few. You might not get paid in green, but the experience you pick up is priceless. As far as nightclub work goes, if you are gonna work a Friday night, go on a Friday before you work. Don't drink any alcohol; you want to be able to pay attention. Take a small notebook and write down the songs that are played. If you don't know the song then write down any lyrics you can hear for later research.

Most importantly, be humble. If you expect to learn anything, then remember that you don't know it all. Once you think you've learned it all, quit.

pick yourself up one of these NUMARK DM950USB 2 CHANNEL MIXER ($99)

http://www.idjnow.com/StoreModules/ProductDetails.aspx/PID=DM950USB--BranchID=--DepartmentID=--SubDeptID=--CategoryID=--DeID=0

Thats all you will need with VDJ ... you run two usb cables from your laptop to that mixer.

It does not get more basic then that ... if you have been DJ'n for 3 years ... you should already know how to hook your mixer / amp / speakers ect ect up.

I would advise reading more on these forums though ... for tips and tricks.

Hihihihi! :)
Since the beginning of the art of DJing, I think all of us has found ourselves in that situation. You'll probably find yourself in a situation where you don't have all the songs you need - no matter how many tracks you bring..

hihihihi :) this made my day, gave me some flashbacks to my early days as a DJ :)

Oh, and by the way, you'll need to purchase VDJ aswell - DEMO version doesn't work well for ya.

The demo will work exactly as the Pro, only for 20 days.

hm... probably missed something along the way - does it work prelistening, seperating both channels on a mixer?? What is the real difference between DEMO and purchased version?
