I'm having trouble using VDJ's Rip Vinyl module. I've used it before successfully. Lately, it will not let me save the file after a recording. I choose the 320 bit rate and click on the rec button, but when I try to save the file, I get a message telling me that it's impossible to save the file and then it closes. I lose the recording and have to start over. That's not fun when the recording is in real time. Any suggestions?

Hi DeeJay EL,

Fraid this isn't really a way to get it working, but "audacity" is very good for recording stuff on if you can't get rip-vinyl to work. you can get it from www.download.com (just do a search)

Hopefully somebody will help you with rip-vinyl, but if you just want to get stuff recorded quickly, it's pretty good and you can crop the files, adjust the volume, add compression/effects as well.

Thanks. I'll try that for now. In the mean time, I'd like to get rip vinyl to work again.

Tried Audacity. Works like a charm. Thanks. Updated VDJ to 4.3. Rip Vinyl still down for the count.

how do you get "audacity" to detect your vinyl input??

I was using line output from a cassette deck.

Hi, to choose your sound card in audacity, just go to -Edit-Preferences. The first tab you see is Audio I/O, just choose your card from the "Recording" drop down list and choose stereo from the channels box.

Also, before you record for real, it's probably worth doing a quick test record to check the levels. The little bar graphs are useful for this; just adjust the volume slider to make the graphs peak just below 0dB but so that it never crosses into the little red boxes.

I connected the turntable's outout to inouts 1 and 2 on the maya, but I get an "error opening sound device" message in audacity. I selected "audio device on usb" for my input in audacity, but no luck. I still get the error message. Also, I am still awaiting word on rep vinyl and why it won't let me save a recording.
