Hey folks...(",) Hope everyone is well.
I've just bought a new laptop:
Fujitsu Siemens
Vista Home Premium
Intel Core Duo T2250 @ 1.73 GHz
1gb Memory
Rated 3.1 on the Windows Experience Index
Intel GMA for mobile
Ok. I'll be honest. I've never played with Vista before...but my first impression? Don't like it. Too many 'changes' if you will from XP Pro. Seems a bit more difficult to navigate round. Simple things like formatting a hard drive to reinstall the OS with a new user even seem difficult. All this 'Windows Old' folder options for the previous OS...what's that all about?
Anyway, cutting a long story interesting...if that...I'm not going to be using the laptop for VDJ. I'm pretty sure the system could not handle VDJ anyway...certainly not from a graphics point of view I'm sure. Comments appreciated, however?
Anyway, having checked my task manager, it seems i'm running 58 processes when i turn the machine on. 58?!?!?!?!?? Jesus...what's that all about. My gig machine runs like 22!!! Also, i had noticed last night that my cpu usage was static at around 50%...with no applications running. Today I've hooked up to the net and it's a comfortable 2%, so that's nice...but what's the deal with the processes?
Advice/comments welcome please.
Cheers...and keep spinnin'...(",)

My Vista runs around 40 something, but I guess that is just Vista. Make sure you disable the Sidebar and also Windows Defender and try runnin VDJ. You might find that it works. I can run VDJ with the 40+ processes runnin ok, but I think I have problems with my ATI graphics or my outdated MOBO. Give it a shot I am curious how it works. Brian

Never checked on my services but my new Vista Pc from HP (http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/uk/en/ho/WF06b/35123-35527-39847-39847-39847-13072186-80165339.html) can run VDJ and Analyse all the music whilst recording and also browsing the web whilst installing microsoft office without a single stop/bump/pause.
Was difficult using the MK 2 jog wheel though.
I have Sidebar and Defender running and also Mcafee AV
Vista rocks
