Still missing some info.
Sound Card
Video Card
Version of VDJ
-----
My recommendations:
Get more RAM, and a bigger hard drive. I'm guessing your video card is onboard the motherboard which won't cut it.

I would upgrade to at least 1Gb ram and maybe get a bigger hard drive. Have you optomized your system for VDJ?? Get rid of unecessary processes that are runnin while usin VDJ.

Thats okay, the more help, the merrier! DJ Frankie, looks like you may have an onboard video card that doesn't do hardware acceleration. In layman's terms, the computer is doing all the work of moving the pixels around on the screen. When dealing with videos, that is a lot for the CPU to handle. When you use a graphics card with Hardware Acceleration, the graphic card does all the hard work, freeing up the CPU to do other less taxing things. Without really knowing what type of machine you are running, it is hard to recommend the proper hardware for you. If you machine a store bought machine, or something someone put together for you? If it is a store bought what is the brand and model number?

aslo
go to options > performances
set it to fastest , set Latency to auto
untick safe mode , and overclock
that should free up alot of CPU
