2g of ram

You need a sound card with at least 4 inputs and 4 outputs, The Maya fits this bill. The Gigaport AG, DOES NOT, have inputs, only outputs. So you can not use the Gigaport, if you want to use TCCD. It looks just like the Maya, but they are different.

sounds like an hp laptop .... to resolve many common issues ( laptops more likely to have problems ) there are at least 2 good routes to a resolution ...... instead of driving yourself crazy trying to do it yourself , try some or all of the solutions in the setup guide at the top of the page ...... another good possibility is contact support at your laptop maker

my first system was a desktop and i was fortunate to have zero problems using XP home with an M Audio soundcard

my next system was an HP laptop with XP media center edition and that system required a lot of tweaks , most of the tweaks were given to me by email from the soundcard maker ( Presonus )

so don't despair lotsa free help out there .......
