Hi,

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Back in the day I was one who was requesting longer timecode than 12 minutes.

I wanted this even though after the 12 min was up, the song would still play without a problem and all I had to do on the CDJ1000's was start the 12 min timecode over again when it runs out. This can be annoying sometimes.

I just realized something kinda interesting and any feddback would be appreciated.

In order to not have to start the timecode form the beginning when it runs out, I just tried putting tracks 1,2,3,4,5 all with the 12 minute timecode and shutting off the autocue on the cd player so when the 12 minutes runs out, it goes to the next track (timecode still).
I realized this does not distrubt the song being played and gives total control (pitch/scratch) of the song which is now playing on the new timecode track.

I noticed before when the timecode used to run out after 12 min, I could not use the pitch/scratch on the CD players.

any feedback on this find?

hmmmmm..

thanks!

B

Why don't you try this:
Take the TC Tone open in an audio editor and append 2 or 3 together end to end.
Edit so there will be no gaps between tones, then burn to a CD.
Maybe you can make a 24 or 32min (or even longer) TCCD Track.

Let me know if it works.

Hey Kreg- I tried that 6 months ago in Soundforge.

It looked great, not a single gap and thought it would work.

I made the timecode 24 minutes BUT as soon as 12 min was over in the 24 min code which I made, it stopped.

I spoke to someone at VDJ and they said it was very hard to make a longer timecode signal.

So this new method above seems to be working pretty good so far.

Thanks for the response.

Hey Kreg,

I just tried making the TC 32 minutes and it seems that now it does not stop at 12 minutes anymore.

thanks for the great idea.

Hey Kreg-it works PERFECTLY.

75 minute timecode.

sounds weird- I know, but wow, so much freedom.

:-)

Thanks for the help in having me revisit it.

xgl- I'll make you any size that you need, just tell me the length and how to get it to you.

Maybe the Team would be interested in making your 75 minute timecode available as an alternate to their 12 minute timecode. I would be interested in a 75 minversion.

I have to add that you use the smart timecode mode otherwise some users won't understand

It only works in smart mode ;)

Heck, you could even just start the cd over again, or let the cd play 12 mins and stop...

Track would still play on, in smart mode

Its a feature ;)

But doubling the timecode to 24mins could be usefull for smart mode users
