Topic: VDJ 5 Crashing..what should be done...

Questo argomento è obsoleto e potrebbe contenere informazioni obsolete o errate.

I have noticed that the new vdj although a step in the right direction, has many crashing errors....of course these will i am sure be corrected in future releases but as far as now crash crash crash...as least its done with a smile.. ..don't get me wrong (in this topic) that i do not like this version because i do ...i just do not like all of the flaws

Now this is the question:how many people whether DJ's or espiring DJ's have had major problems with vdj5 crashing on them?......And...what would you do to improve or fix the next version?...

First off before saying that it is flawed - how about let's fix your problems. Obviously you have issues with your system that needs corrected.

Please state what it is you are doing when you experience the crashes.
What are your system specs?
What performance options are you trying to use?
What is your sound card? Is it WDM or ASIO?
Are you using Timecodes?

Little blunt to say it's flawed and ask for opinions of others on improvements when you don't offer opportunity to solve your problems.

You should have a new file named "crasguard report.txt" in your VirtualDJ folder (now in my documents). Open it with Wordpad (and not Notepad) then copy paste the data here.
It will help us to understand the specific problem you have.

I Figured I'd Add Mine Also. I Really Want To Get This But, Alot Of Crashes For Me Also. I Really Do Love, And I'm Not Using It In Anyway Oddly.

First as you have a cracked version of VirtualDJ v5.0 , do not be surprised to have a lot of crashes

Anyway, I have just edited your post because in fact you only have 3 different crashes that we can divide in 2 categories:
1)
ins=66833800

2)
ins=8b45008b
ins=8b421451

Now you can delete your "crashguard report.txt" from your hard drive.

I guess that the crashes of 2) appear with the ClipBank plugin ? Can you test again and see if ins=8b45008b or ins=8b421451 appear again? And write how you can reproduce the crashes (with which files and your manipulations)

Do you remember what you did for the crash 1) ?

For the record, I have not had any major issues yet. I only have a problem with the low latency selection for the audio card setup which has no sound when selected. Version 4.3 had sound with that option and it was working well. ASIO, with my sound card, has had issues since version 4, but it worked fine in version 3. I think it could be my sound card though and the advanced performance options in version 4 since version 3. I need to upgrade my sound card and CPU eventually.

CPU - Pentium 4 3.4 GHz HT
Sound Card - Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2

If you know he has a cracked version, why offer him support????

Because VirtualDJ over the years has never shut out the crack community. Us licensed users may dog them alittle and remind them that they are using a crack. And after awhile they (crack users) understand that they are going to continue to have issues. But for the most part overtime if they take their work as a DJ serious enough they will buy the program. Some of the current Top Users use to used a crack of VDJ at one time.

And we can learn from everyone...

Moreover, from his error reports i can see he is using the trial version.

first off i am using a trial version of VDJ........... but no biggy, because like ive said before i will purchase after i am done trying...just making sure stable and good enough for work....i can't get shut down in a gig... as far as the clipbank crashes, they were cause while i was trying to load an avi loop that dj'n'norway had posted up links too. Was only during loading though. The other crash i can not remember what i was doing, if it happens again, i will post.

btw, here is a snippet from my desktop while loading the trial LOL (ohh & for those who ask, that is jessica alba LOL)

Are crashed that happened when virtualdj try to browse through an invalid folder. Do you remember what kind of folder you were clicking on when this happened? (from the screenshot I see you have a network drive. Could this be the problem?)

Not sure about this one, but looks like crash in some codec for Windows Media Player. When the ClipBank plugin can't open a cilp with its own internal decoder, it'll try the windows media decoder. If WMP uses a codec that's not very resilient to erroneous files (and most codec out there are not), that can lead to a crash.

These ones happened while vdj was trying to use a skin that has a bug in the xml, and try to draw an object whose coordinates are outside the .bmp file. What skin where you using?

@devstef

I was not browsing the network drive. It was a local drive. if i can recreate the error again i will post it!!!

thx for the support!

Actually i just tried again, and i have installed vista codec pack, it is not crashing when i try to load now. So im guessing it would be because of an invalid codec or not being there at all. Now the need to eliminate the crash if the codec isn't there dev team LOL thx again!!
