Can anyone help me figure out what is wrong?
I am having trouble getting my settibgs to work. I have a Numark DJ IO, using Cue LE, running windows XP. I tried using the ASIO sound card and set the master to my speakers and plugged my headphones into my headphone jack... the sound cuts off after 30 seconds. I then tried using dual soundcards. I use the DJ IO for master output and my laptop soundcard for my headphones. This way the sound does not cut off but there is a background noise when i adjust the eq levels and move the fader. It is very distracting and very noticeable. I unchecked the Safe Mode and Overclock boxes and the noise goes away but now the music starts cracking and eventually the sound cuts off.
I have tried messing with the different latency settings but haven't found a solution that works.
All I want is to be able to use my equipment without any flaws. I tried going on the Numark forums but no one seems to have a solution. I tried calling tech support at numark and they did not seem to be able to help me either.
If any one out there has a working system or if anyone knows what is wrong, please reply.

Please provide some specs about the system you are using.
What are the exact sound settings - Input, Output, etc.
What are the performance settings - Where is the slider? What is the latency drop-down set at?

I am using two sound cards. DJ IO feeds main output. My laptops internal soundcard feeds my headphones. The slider is on the secons setting...the first one away from the "fastest" setting. Soundcard latency is set to "auto". When I have safe mode box checkede I hear statick noise in both outputs when ever i move the fader or eq or volume. When I uncheck the box the statick goes away but the sound starts to crack and eventually goes out. I havd a powered usb hub 2.0 with my poweres external hdd, numark dj io, and total control. The latncy dropdown is set to normal.
This is not the only set up I have tyied. I have tried manny different combinations. This is the one that works the best so far, but still not working properly.
Some one told me to get a PCMCIA usb controller... isn't that the same thing as having a usb hub?????

Sometimes USB hubs can be the problem... can you try hooking your controller directy to your laptop, you can try with some mp3s on the computers hard drive and leave the external disconnected.

I tried hooking up the DJIO and the Total Control direcly to my laptop. No external hdd. I used the ASIO, master output from output 1 and headphones through headphone jack on DJIO. The sound cut out after 30 seconds.
I then changed the soundcard settings... I used 2 soundcards. DJIO was used for main output and built in laptop RealtekHD audio card was used for headphone output. The sound did not cut off but there was taht anoying sound in the background whenever i adjusted any knobs... eq knobs, fader, pitch, volume, etc...
I then hooked up my external hdd directly to my laptop. The sound started cracking.
Through sll three tests the the preset performance slider was on the second position and the latency was in auto. The latency on the DJIO on the pulldown was set to normal.
What can I do to fix all of these sound issues.

By ur specs, it shouldnt create problem,,, maybe u have a lot of process activity in the background.. How many are they? N i look as if ur usb is draining much power.
Try to reduce the un-needed process, take a look at skyfxl blog as he have tips on this:)
Thanks to him:)
N does ur external hdd only use usb as it main source of power?.. if it came with a power adapter, maybe it will helps.
Try this time to performances to fully fastest n set lantency to auto.. try playing with checking/unchecking the safe mode n overclockin. Hope this helps
Sorry can't help much on this, maybe someone with the total control n djio will help ya on this one n i fully believe this have to do with settings:)

Yeah I already read the blog and tried his tips. Nothing changed.
My external hdd was on external power. It wont even turn on if its not on external power.
I set the settings the way you suggested, the cracking is still there.
Thanks anyway
