Two things:
1. The primary thing missing from the new auto-mix, to me, is to be able to "preview the transition" coming to determine if it is appropriate (that includes type and song position). In the old style, if I see its not appropriate, I'll switch to manual and do it myself. Thats how I used the old feature, and it saved a ton of crappy transitions (Cuts in slow songs, tempo matches that would lose the hook of the intro).
2. Maybe a club DJ needs to mix "by hand" all night, but wedding DJs are running lights, finding guests, stealing bathroom breaks, managing an agenda: this is what software is designed to help with. Unlike a club DJ, I need to be be ready with 10,000 songs (Sinatra to Eminem), so hand tweaking all of them is not a possibilility.
Not all your customers are in clubs.

I think Atomix Productions gets the point that people want the old Automix function back by now. :) Maybe it is going to be a feature in v5.1?
