Topic: Why does VDJ open two copies of the program?

Questo argomento è obsoleto e potrebbe contenere informazioni obsolete o errate.

Hello. I've got an unusual problem with ver 5.0.2.

I open VDJ and it runs fine, but after a little while a second copy opens up in the background and then the original program starts skipping and my crossfader makes a humming noise when I slide from deck to deck. Last nite at a gig it shut down too. Any idea why this second copy opens up by itself and how to correct these issues?

Thanx in advance...

That sounds VERY odd.

Do you have some sort of keyboard shortcut that triggers the opening of second program instance?
Check both in VDJ keyboard shorcuts, as well as the desktop shortcut on Windows desktop (Right click and look in properties)

Ghost in the machine..beware..heee j/k

When you launch VirtualDJ is it from a shortcut on the desktop ? Or, did you add an icon to your toolbar at the bottom?

It sounds like a virus that duplicates programs :)

lol..

Auto-Warez Pirate? ;) hehe

I launch VDJ from a shortcut on my desktop.

I checked and don't have a shortcut enabled in VDJ or Windows explorer...

How many times do you click that shortcut? (Internet Explorer example) Some people double click the like Internet Explorer icon, while the computer is processing, the user becomes impatient because nothing pops up on the screen. So they keep double clicking that Internet Explorer icon. Before you know it, like 6+ windows pop up for Internet Explorer. Teamers/Developers ... can this happen? If the user over clicks the icon, the program will open more than once? I think it happened to me before.

Some windows-does-strange-things could be the answer. I remember that on Win 98 you only had to click once to open a program by a shortcut. It had some mouseover script, so by hovering the mouse on a icon, it will be marked (and clicked once), and when you then double-click it opens two instances of the program. Not all programs require double-clicking, like on websites, startmenu etc. Experiment your way around.

That's sort of along the lines of what I was thinking. Is your windows desktop configured for "single click," and does the problem occur with other programs?

I only have VDJ on my laptop - nothing else.

Yes, I only double click the icon once, not multiple times

is multiinstance mode enabled in options?

There is not a setting that would have VirtualDJ automatically launch a second instance, Else the skin it's self is tagged as Multi-Instance.

But Skyfxl's question does raise a question to what skin are you using ?

Multi-instance? I'll check when I get home tonite. I'm using the advanced skin.

I hope thats not MixLab Multi Instance ;) that would auto open two instances of VDJ intentionally :)
