I have found a bug that I've confirmed on two installs of VirtualDJ.
I assign a keyboard shortcuts topitchbend
Shift Left = pitch_bend Momentary Value=+128
Shift Right = pitch_bend Momentary Value=-128
When I push shift left and right at the same time, the pitch bend gets stuck on. To stop it from doing that, I had to create another shortcut:
Shift Up = pitch_bend reset
If I accidentally hit shift left+right, I can fix this problem by hitting shift+up.
I suppose this should be fixed.

You can create a macro to add "pitch_bend reset" on both shortcut. It will solve the "problem"
PS: It's the same thing for the function smart_seek()

I tried and have not this problem with F3-F4 and F7-F8 keys i use for pitch bend (for the 2 decks separately)
F keys in general run better for the basic functions (play/stop/pitch etc).
Start with an empty shortcuts file to be sure you have no conflicts /macros
Try and let me know.

I wonder if it's because I'm using the shift keys with these functions...
But... if I simultaneously pitch bend and pitch reset, they won't just cancel each other out? Interesting... that would probably work for me.
Really I just need to get a bloody controller for this :P
