Topic: Need help using my mixer with virtual dj

Questo argomento è obsoleto e potrebbe contenere informazioni obsolete o errate.

Hey all i have a stanton dj lab 2 set, with a stanton m. 201 mixer with a soundblaster max HD audio sound card on my desktop computer. My speaker system is a kinyo RB-6A 5.1 surround sound unit. I'm so confused right now, i don't know what to do and i want to hook up my mixer to my computer so i can play around with virtual dj and be able to at least mix the tracks with a mixer rather than having to do it through the interface. It would also be nice to hook the turntables up, but that may be difficult. PLEASEE!! Anyone help me out, if anyone can give me any tips, medications, steps, guidelines WHATEVER to setup this damn mixer to my comptuer i would be forever indebted to them, thank you so much

I'm not sure what sound card you have, whether it's a 4.1 upwards card, or just a 2 channel stereo card.

If it's a 4.1 card (ie has outputs for front speakers and rear speakers):

* In the sound configuration set VDJ to no inputs, external mixer and 4.1 Sound card.
* Select your sound card from the dropdown box
* Connect the front speakers connection from the soundcard to one line in channel on the mixer
* Connect the rear speakers connection from the soundcard to another line in channel on the mixer
* Mix!

If it's a 2 channel card (ie has outputs for only front speakers):

* In the sound configuration set VDJ to no inputs, external mixer and mono seperated.
* Select your sound card from the dropdown box
* Connect the one connection from the front speakers connection on the soundcard to one line in channel on the mixer
* Connect the other connection from the front speakers connection on the soundcard to one line in channel on the mixer
* Mix!

With a stereo card operating in "Mono Seperated" mode you are basically splitting the normal single stereo output into two mono ones for mixing on an external mixer. It's not a good way of doing it.

Hope this is of some help :)

Regards,

Scott
