when I select it, it tells me "...d3dx9_32.dll" was not found...." what is this file, where do I get it and where do I install it? I am running 5.06 (tried upgrading to 5.07 and I had random crashing problems I went back to 5.06)

You need to update your DirectX runtime libraries.
Your best bet is to run the DirectX Web Update:

I solved it by googling that DLL file and put it where it should ;)
