What is the best skin for outdoor events? We have a ton of events outdoors and the default screen can't be seen in the brightness of outdoors, even under a canopy in the shade.

i found if you edit a skin by inverting the colors on the .BMP since most are made for dark settings by inverting you create the opposite ... a skin for bright settings. You have to play around and see what you like.

go into the vdj skins folder, unzip the skin.zip file of your choice and you will get a .bmp and a .xml file. open the bmp in an photo/graphics editor and select invert colors. The skin may look bad so you will have to experiment with ones you like to see what is best.
 
If you have a grey or black background and white text how does inverting the BMP change the color of the text?
 
it becomes black text on a white background..


see instant day skin. You can of course tweak to your liking since this is kind of a halfass nethod but it does work in bright settings.


 
Most of us work outside sometime. There is a huge need for outdoor friendly skins!

I would love to see some daylight skis posted in Downloads!

I just did that for an example but i will i can make it if you like. I was actually thinking of making the title/artist time/bpm all black for both becks as well as the browser text. That way you would see them very clearly on the white background. The overlap waves show up as blackish anyways so i think the rest of the color scheme would work just fine.

I got lazy with the preview, it actually look better in use. I made all the text black for each deck. I dont really know if anyone would like it but it is what is.
 

Well I've got it now, and I've just taken my lappy outside and it works. It does exactly what it say's on the tin.

I was debating if i should darken the overall tone a little bit. Make it more gray and not so "hot white". I dont know.
 
I'm not sure, but maybe tinting will lessen the desired effect on LCD lappy screens...I dunno, maybe try and see on a nice, bright day ;)
 
I tried to change the skin that i use, can't get it right... can you help me with it? I use the DAC 4.3 skin....I think I'am doing something wrong..THANKS!!
