Hi,
I haven't come here for a while...
Virtual DJ is still my best choice but I have been trying other programs.

I have tried MixMeister Live and really cannot figure out how I will use it for live performance with efficiency.

+MixMeister was designed for studio Waveform work :
Upside: Save time - create one hour mix in less than one hour...
Downside: Not DJ friendly - hard to cue and mix like DJ (even with new dedicated controller)

+Virtual DJ was designed for live performance :
Upside: Very DJ friendly, high efficiency and minimize mistakes during live session.
Downside: Not designed for "Takes & Re-takes" - Cannot route to multi-track for further editing.

To have the best from different worlds, I suggest to consider to let the two programs merge (the two programs are under Numark's umbrella now).

I do not mean to merge the two products into a third product but instead, just enable the two standalone programs to "Loosly merge" or "talk" with each other....

Like VST effects units...
* Like using "Scratcher" in Fruit Loops Studio....

Example:
VDJ turnable1 link with MixMeister track1
VDJ turnable2 link with MixMeister track2
can crossfade in VDJ (using external controller like HDJC or BCD2000)
and then
VDJ turnable1 link with either MixMeister track1 or track3
then
VDJ turnable2 link with either MixMeister track2 or track4
and so on....

VDJ Team kindly consider my suggestion,
this will make us love VDJ more and power up VDJ's competitive advantage.

Best Regards,

No it's not designed for that, it's a DJ'ing program. If you want to create a mix offline without having to actually do the mixing, I would suggest using a more suitable application for this, for example ACID.

VDJ is not a Numark product, it is an Atomix product. Cue/VV are Numark products, and are modified rebranded versions of VDJ, and in the case of VV supplied with hardware.

I had a read of that thread, surely recording the two seperate channels for later mixdown is just going to be applying EQ, effects and levels to each channel? If you are trying to make a mix CD without actually mixing it yourself live, you really are much much much better off using an application designed for this.

Personally I can't see any real application for this since you will still have to do the mixdown externally? So you might as well do any EQ/FX processing externally too? I'm prepared to admit I'm wrong tho ;)

Thanks Scott for your reply,
I prefer to mix in real time live (online), that's where the live energy can be captured in my mix.

I am no good in DAW's user interface and volume markers.
But I am very used to (DJ traditional interface) mixing "manually" touching the vertical/cross faders.
(I use HDJC with vertical fader as volume control.)

Pro DJs are capable of creating "almost" perfect mixes (online), usually over 95% of a mix do not need to be edited afterwards.

But in order to be perfect, that CRITICAL 5% need to be edited after the live recording session (offline).
That 5% may be due to mechanic problem or some after thoughts....

...Two recent examples of my mixes
Example 1 : Typhoon #9 Mix 2008
http://www.theprado.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=465
22:18 controller malfunction
27:26 controller malfunction
33:07 better to loop 4 Bars more of "My Name Is Bond, James Bond"

====
Example 1 : Cheer Myself Up Mix
http://www.theprado.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=468
16:36 jog dial malfunction during mixing, though fixed immediately but still noticable

"Studio" DAW are catching up to be "Live" software but the interface usually not for real DJs
"Live" software (vdj) with good DJ interface if not intending to go "Studio" can think about partnering with DAW to have the competitive edge.

OR

It will be great if I can use VDJ's cool user interface to record the mix into DAW (95%) and use the DAW to polish the mix (5%) then render the perfect mix.

The keyword may be "Rewire".

Thanks again
