I used to know how, but can't find the right tools - how can I find "new posts" since my last visit here and/or "my posts" so I can see if something I've asked or contributed has been replied to?

The 'Unread Topics' link/feature was not carried forward into the new site design. However; there is a growth of interest as to the number of people that actually used it. Will forward this to the Webmasters.
