I have been thinking about buying a midi controller to use with VirtualDJ, but have heard complaints from some people that the midi mapping on VDJ does not work on things such as the crossfader and eq knobs etc, and that only the button presses of the midi controller will actually work with VDJ. Is this true?
Here is one of the midi controllers im looking at:

would i be able to map the rotary controllers to eq knobs, and sliders to gain controls etc?

If you're talking about the latest version, your informations are wrong.
Knobs, crossdader, buttons all can be mapped.
