Topic: Online, interactive song requests
The situation we know now:
People come up to you during a party and ask if you have such-and-such song and if can you play it for them (request v1.0).

What I would like to do :
People at a party can browse to a website on their phone, search my music database, and select their favorite song(s) to add to VDJ playlist/sidelist (request v2.0).

Basically, its taking song requests to the next level, and giving people more control of what they wanna hear. Eventually I may add the ability for people to see the playlist and upcoming songs, to give them a rough estimate as to how long until their song plays.

Is anything like this possible? Does VDJ offer any APIs to allow a website/external app to interface with VDJ and automatically add the requested songs to the playlist/sidelist?

Please let me know your thoughts on this. Thanks guys!

Yes it does, and I've actually created something similar in the past whilst experimenting ;)

How/where can I get these API's? I only saw code for audio/video plugins on the SDK page. Thanks!

Right, thats kinda the idea here, for when I just have people over for a backyard party, or at a friends house, and just want to drink and enjoy myself, without having to guard my laptop from people spilliing beer and all. They can control the music, without touching my equipment.

Thanks for your positive feedback, though.

i've seen something like that done at parties, except they were texting in from their phones messages to throw on a projector, requests to the dj, birthdays, ect. and unfortunatly they've added one of those numbers at work... now they can text in a bad request...

I've done this for special private events. There is a lot more engagement from your audience. And at the end of the party, they are extremely greatful. I actually have gotten more gigs because of this. I am able to mix songs that is more personal to every individual. It also creates a new challenge of mixing music dedicated to the event.
