Numark Transport Control!
No Mixer Functions (No EQ, No Effects, No Crossfader, No Channel faders or Gains).
No Display (this would make it cheaper in price than the Total Control or DMC2).
No Headphone Functions (use your mixer's).
Not a sound card, kinda like Total Control's little brother (use it with DJ|IO) .
Perfect for the DJ who doesn't want to stop using his/hers thousand dollar mixer.
Only the Industry Standard, CD player type controls are included.
Ok, ok. It's not real, but it's pretty cool, right?
Numark, I hereby relinquish all interest in this drawing/design.
I hope word get's back to Numark...
:)

I take your point.... there's not a great deal of options out there for a 2 deck controller without mixer functions.... Bring back the DAC-2 I say, it does everything I need in only 2U of rack space...

I'm also looking for such a smart midi controller to controller some additional features while useing timecode.
I would only need two jogs, play-pause-cue, loop funktion, effect funktion.
If Numark would creat such a small controller it would be absolutely perfect.

Thanks, bro. I'm thinking:
* 19" rackable
* 2 rack spaces
* bundled with CUE LE
* metal chassis or faceplate, maybe?
The icing on the cake would be pitch bend buttons that don't chipmunk.

Well the original PCDJ DMC1 was a Numark unit.
They could re-issue it. With the video Cross fade buttons of course.

This thing would be cool because it's nice and small, but if you're gonna rack mount it, why not just get a DMC2?

I thought the same thing. But isn't the DMC2 getting discontinued?
Inviato Sat 08 Nov 08 @ 5:33 am
I hope not. It's the best rack controller on the market right now.

You're right. It shoudn't be rack mounted.
About the approximate size, proportions and build of the illustration would be cool.

'Cause it's too big - I haven't got the rack space for a 3U controller! Hence why I'm still running my DAC-2.

I think what would be amazing was a modular set up. have a company like numark or pioneer make pieces that all fit together so you can build your own setup. Make a sound card, a mixer, and a controler that can all hook together into one unit, or you can just get what you need. you have your RMX, your steel/TC + sound card, your mixer+soundcard+controller guys. instead of making seprate products for all of them just make pieces you can put together.
At the very least make a RMX or TC with a spot for a sound card, same unit for both but for $50 more or whatever it will include a sound card, or you can buy one later and drop it in yourself.

I was thinking about this comment. And to be honest, I don't like the DMC2 button layout at all. I don't like the options they give you. It doesn't work for me. I'm sure a lot of people like it and that's great.
But I bought the Total Control because I dig the layout. Makes sense. A little crowded, but it puts the buttons I need and use the most where I want them. For the most part the only beef I got with my Total Control is the Pastic Chassis/case and the crowded mixer section.
A stripped down version of the Total Control, like the pic I made, would be great because it would allow me to use my Rane MP2016 mixer. Or any deep, rotary mixer (Urei, Bozak). This is why I had suggested making my suggested controller rackable.
Another reason I bought the Total Control was so that I could get used to DJing with a computer quickly, until I could feel comfortable enough to shell out big bucks for a more professional controller like the DAC3 or Denon DN-HC4500. I'm just waiting for the kinks to be worked out on these and then I'll research which of the two will better suit my needs.
What would be awesome is a controller that had the exact transport functionality and button layout and color scheme of VirtualDJ's basic skin, was rackable, no mixer functionality, metal chassis, and no display (you would be using VDJ for that).

skyfxl,
Here is another idea. Probably something other people might be interested in....

It's funny, I had mentioned in the "Wishes and New Features" forum that a VirtualDJ default skin with the transport functionality of CD players for use with TCCDs would be cool.
This is a particular case of designing hardware to look like software! :)

Chris mate,
Are you after getting a job with Numark, if not you better get some copyright's on your idea's mate, lol
You never know, they might be watching ;)
Inviato Sun 09 Nov 08 @ 7:59 pm
You like that, huh? If I copyright it, it won't get made!! If I can have one of these controllers for free, they can have the rights to it! Plus, if you see this made, you know who came up with it ;)
I got a bunch of ideas, bro!
I relinquish all interest in the last drawing, also.

I remember now why I thought the DMC2 was getting discontinued. They are at clearance prices at www.pssl.com, thats why.

It still is the best rack controller on the market
