I was going to purchase virtual DJ and also get a pair of pioneer or numark cd table top players. I know this is pioneer forum, but i did not want to post this twice, in two different forums.

I want to know how to use the players with midi? I guess I dont understand

with Midi, you dont need the time code?

I was using the virtual DJ demo, and everything was working great on PC mode

what are the advantages to spending extra money to get CD players? I think its good to have CD players at my gig , as a backup, but what advantage as a DJ will it give me to get cdj 400's or numark idx

I hook them up directly to the laptop, via USB right? each player into a different USB plug?

the pioneer cdj 400 - it says they have a built in soundcard - how does that work? Do I need to purchase a unit like maya44 or serato box, etc..

With CDJ-400s you do not need anything extra to run Virtual DJ. The CDJ-400s when connected to your laptop will automatically begin installing the USB drivers. Then you will go into the VDJ "Config" menu and set up your sound settings and that's it! With VDJ 6 there is no need to MIDI map or anything else since it automatically detects the controller you have connected to it. It is all HID controlled, no need for timecodes and you can tweak the settings to match your needs if you want to.

I would recommend CDJ-400s to anyone.

I second that! I also have the cdj-400's and they work great for me :)
 
CDJ-400 work indeed very well with vdj.

I just would like to change a bit how the fx buttons and the reloop button work. I'd like to assign the reloop button to activate hot cue, samples, and effect functions, in a cycling way. And then fx buttons would load three functions of the active function.


This way I would neet to touch my pc at all while Djing.
 
Hey Guys...

I am currently mapping my cdj-400 to VDJ would like some help to perfect it.....I want to map a button so that I can stop and start (pull-up) a song from the begining....I tried using "pause_stop" but this takes me back to the cue points first.

Is there a script that will allow me to do this?

i have vdj dc that came with my rmx but do i need to download vdj pro to use the thing after the demo is over?

When you have a good latecity with time codes, your signal quality should not drop under 50 % while you are scratching. Playing a song , it should be 100 %

Caliente, the CDJ400 operates without the use of timecode CDs; it has native-mode control of the software.

And more precisely, it uses HID with VirtualDJ (so better than MIDI as explained here : http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/HIDvsMIDI.html )
 
hey guys,

my hard drive recently crashed so I just got back on board with installing everything. I have vdj hooked up to my cdj 400's and a numark dxm09 mixer. I have installed the cdj 400 asio drivers from the pioneer website. I can get the cdj's to work with vdj as a controller but for some reason I can only get one deck to have sound, the other one has none coming thru and deck one plays thru the second channel on my mixer and it isnt even connected to that channel! Im very lost and would like to get everything up and running again. I just dont understand why I can only get sound out of one deck. Any ideas?

I have a numark ICDX, and the scratching using Cue 5.2.1 was sooooooooooooooooo much more tighter than on VDJ 6.x. But its not as bad as the CDJ 400. My friend once brough his CDJ 400 over and we tried it on CUE 5.2.1, and it was similar issues to what your showing in the video.

So in my case, something changed in VDJ 6, in your case, it just never worked properly but needs to be adressed.

Ill be honest, i think VDJ was designed more for house DJ's as its more of a mixing software and not scratching. I also think this is a decision they took, as its advertised that serato runs the market. But i did mention in a thread from last year that i had tried the ICDX on serato, and that scratching was too tight. Better than VDJ 5.2.1

Download the ASIO drivers at www.asio4all.com. Then instead of choosing "Two Cards", choose "ASIO Drivers" and then in the drop-down choose choose "Pioneer CDJ-400 ASIO 1" and in the other drop-down "Pioneer CDJ-400 ASIO 2" or what ever numbers you see as long as each drop-down is a different number from the other one.

Fluke, the CDJ-400 and VDJ are an excellent combination. I use it in every environment from clubs and weddings to whatever. It's not just for "house" use. It's a professional DJ product that any DJ that wants to put on an awesome show can use. If you want to scratch a lot then for now, Serato has VDJ beat, but big wow! Everything else is great in VDJ.

Eventually the Dev Team will get it right but with all of the other awesome features VDJ offers, the scratching issue is just a small inconvenience for me and most others I'm sure.

Give them some time, it'll be right... eventually!

Rude, thanks for the YouTube video on the scratching issues. I first used a competitor for a few years, then switched to DJ Mixstation and then the Home Version and now I am on the Pro Version. Finally decided to buy hardware and now I have the same scratch issue which for me is kind of a big deal. I think I am going to scrap the whole idea and send everything back and get different hardware. Some of the YouTube videos for the CDJ 400 sold me on it, but I am so accustomed to VDJ that I want equipment that works with it a little better..
 
Hoping to get a simple question answered here... I recently bought a pair of Denon DNS3700 decks and a Pioneer DJM800 mixer. I am running Virtual DJ with my laptop. I recently purchased the equip and am going to start config'ing it soon. I have all the cables now for laptop, decks and mixer... The only cable I need is a MIDI cable for the Pioneer DJM800 to run to my laptop. I am having a hardtime finding any local dealers or warm bodies that are familiar with MIDI control on DJ equipment...

Question: Is there a cable available on the market that has a USB connection on one end and a single MIDI connection on the other? From what I'm told, the DJM800 is capable of MIDI Out only... SO I'm just trying to avoid an additional MIDI In Plug hanging in the way. Or do I have it all wrong?

Also, the Pioneer DJM800 is a recommended product for VDJ... Does that mean it is a "Plug N Play" installation? I'm completely new to this game...

I would greatly appreciate the help!
