So I am considering about taking the plunge to pro. I currently use megaseg for simple gigs but I am getting more requests for mixed sets. I have no intention of loading bootcamp and windows onto my macbook. I am now running the latest snow leopard and have upgraded to the latest Hercules RMX drivers. What mac version of Virtual Dj is the most stable? How do I upgrade from my current version if the only option I can see is version 6?
Thanks :)
Thanks :)

Hello bevo78,
If you upgrade from VirualDJ 5 DJC to VirtualDJ Pro, you can currently download from VirtualDJ Download Center 2 versions of VirtualDJ Pro for Mac:
- VirtualDJ 5.2.1 Pro
- VirtualDJ 6.0.2 Pro
I recommend using VirtualDJ 5.2.1 Pro for Mac rather than VirtualDJ 6.0.2 Pro, since
- VirtualDJ 6.0.2 Pro is not perfectly stable in Mac (while Windows version of VirtualDJ 6.0.2 Pro is stable),
- trying to map commands in VDJ 6 is very painful, as VDJ script is not mature, and wiki help on VDJ script is not mature either.

I'm currently running V6.0.2 on my Macbook Pro with Snow Leopard installed. I've gotta say its not stable, i get odd glitches and errors loading the software. I will install V5.2.1 and see how that goes. If its stable, I'll use 5.2.1 for playing out, 6.0.2 at home so i can use netsearch to mess around with.
Can you please tell me if its ok to install both versions on the mac?

I am starting to think that paying $200 to upgrade to pro is a waste of money. Does Version 5 handle video ok? Megaseg is very stable with both audio and video but limited in it's ability to remix tracks.
Does anyone here use Virtual Dj for Mac with Music Videos?

So I took the plunge and upgrade to pro 5 for mac. Video seems to work well but now I keep getting "Error in video driver". Any ideas?

Go in to CONFIG >> VIDEO >> select your video output option in the drop down menu (select it again, even if its highlighted) then de-activate and activate the video again.
That should solve your issue.

i was considering buying the vci-100 and the only version that support the sensitive plates is the 6.0.2... i want to mix videos too, so... what u are telling me is not to buy VDJ at this moment? since is not stable... should i buy tracktor pro then? i'm running snow leopard too.

Hello iSort,
I don't understand why you think only VirtualDJ 6.0.2 supports sensitive plate:
- sensitive plates are hardware features of the VCI-100
- sensitive plates can be mapped in MIDI
- VirtualDJ 5.2.1 Pro can be mapped in MIDI, so VirtualDJ 5.2.1 Pro can learn when you put your hand on sensitive plates
=> VirtualDJ 5.2.1 Pro can be mapped to react to sensitive plate.
What is the function of VirtualDJ 6.0.2 related to sensitive plates which you think is not in VirtualDJ 5?

I also am hoping Virtual DJ 6.x for Mac becomes more mature for Video DJs but currently its behind leaders like Serato Scratch Live with the Video-SL plugin. I do believe VDJ (mac version) will eventually get there but at the moment, its no competition. With SSL you get a ton of transitions and video effects which is missing from VDJ for the mac.
I keep checking every upgrade in hopes to find that it has caught up. Baby Steps I guess.

I have to ask, how do you feel limited with megaseg for mixing?
I have actually been using it since '99 and other than effects, sampler and beatlock I don't see too much difference besides the ability to scratch.
(I have external effects that I have used for years and they also have samplers (and ability to scratch samples) so the scratching live is more of a factor for me. Just curious.

Please try deleting the following file: MacintoshHD -> Users/YOURNAME/Library/Preferences/com.atomixproductions.virtualdj.plist
Then go to the Download Center and download and install the latest VirtualDJ LE: http://www.virtualdj.com/download/updates.html
Make sure that you also have the latest firmware for your Denon DN-MC6000 installed from http://www.denondj.com otherwise you may experience the controller freezing.
