Topic: USB soundcard problem with VDJ 5.2.1 - Page: 1

Questa parte dell'argomento è obsoleta e potrebbe contenere informazioni obsolete o errate

Dear All,

I have been using VDJ all through my PC life and switched to iMac recenlty. I setup my audio with an external soundcard and onboard one. The built in output has no problems but with the USB audio it is all glitches and distortion. It works with other programs like MixMeister but I am used to Virtual DJ and want to continue using it. I tried all performance settings from fast to best qualith with different Leech values but nothing helped. Does the new version has any different structure?

Thanks

Can you give us more details about the USB soundcard you are using? Is there any drivers available ?

Are you trying to use a 2 soundcards configuration in VDJ , or did you create an aggregate device to be seen as one soundcard?

In either cases, I would suggest going to Application > Utilities >Audio / MIDI Configuration, and look at the properties for both onboard and USB soundcard. You need to be sure that the Output Format is the same for both (ex 44 Khz, 2 ch-16 Bit). Otherwise, you are bound to have audio issues.

Welll I am using a stupid USB card which works ok if I just choose it as a master device http://ucables.com/ref/USB-51-CHANNEL-3D-SOU-R15260

I set the audio as two soundcards and VDJ accepts it as USB soundcard but the sound is horrible. As the aggregate stuff, I created an aggregate soundcard but choose only USB one, which makes everyone understand I quite do not know how to use a mac :). Does aggregate means I can make two cards to work as one?
Ok then I will try to aggregate USB and built in Audio and choose multichannel sound card?

Thnks

Not knowing everything is not a flaw, and you are willing to jump in and try , so more power to you.

Regarding the aggregate device, the point is indeed to combine multiple soundcard to be seen as one by the computer and the software.

If you follow the instructions in the link I gave you, you'll see that it's not so complicated (if you are using Snow Leopard, the windows will look a bit different, but the principle is the same). But again, you have to make sure that you configure the cards to use the same Output format.

Once the aggregate device is created, you will have to make the configuration in VDJ to look something like this:

- Input : None

- Output(s): Headphone

-Soundcard: 4.1 Out > Aggregate Device ( or however you named it)

Then, try changing the internal soundcard rate to match your USB soundcard....

it works for me in 10.4.11, so just make sure you have the latest OS X updates.

Be sure to change the values BEFORE creating the Aggregate Device. If you try to change the values afterward, they could very well go back to the settings previously used.

Are you trying to change while you have VDJ or another audio application open maybe ?

Unless your USB soundcard really doesn't want to be combined with the onboard, which could happen...
