Topic: Here we go again with database issues

Questo argomento è obsoleto e potrebbe contenere informazioni obsolete o errate.

Hello,

Tonight I found a problem with my database again. I have a Virtual Folder named DJ Tools. I have several songs marked with a yellow dot and are being reported as "file does not exist".

I tree down to my "M" drive to get to the directory where the missing file is showing, and the file indeed does exist and is quiet playable.

I went through the databases cleanup utility and these songs refuse to go away. Now I have orphaned songs in this virtual directory and others. There are other virtual directories with the same problem.

How do I clean this up? If I rebuild then I loose all my cue marks. I can't keep re-doing work again. This is a grave situation. Please help.

Hmmm... maybe I found the problem. I sent my laptop out for some repair, and cloned it's files to my Desktop. I used this script:

Echo "Starting Process"
Xcopy "\\Moby-2\C on Moby 2\Documents and Settings\James Lawrence\My Documents\VirtualDJ" "C:\Documents and Settings\Jim Lawrence\My Documents\VirtualDJ" /s /e /w
Echo "Clone from Moby-2 to Rutkus complete."
Xcopy "\\Moby-2\M on Moby 2\VirtualDJ Local Database v6.xml" "M:\VirtualDJ Local Database v6.xml" /i /W
Echo "Moby-2 M drive database clone to Rutkus completed."
Echo "All Done !"

Looking at my C drive's database shows that it wasn't copied correctly. I have sampler statements that prove I never copied over the old Desktop info. Looks like my XCOPY did not overwrite the old database file.

I suppose I'll have to use XCOPY32 with a "/y" option set, or just delete the whole Virtual DJ folder, and then copy all from my laotop's Virtuall DJ folder to my Desktop.

I'll be reporting back if this fixes my orphaned song problem.

regards,

JimL
