zero reliance on net search is what you need, sorry, I just can't understand why anybody would want to use it, if you haven't got a track, tell the customer... simple.

+1on that Paul, I think Netsearch is a gimmick to be honest, I would never use it in a live situation, what if a track suddenly stops, changes volume, changes to something else or has someone's voiceover on it? .... my 7year old finds using netsearch mildly amusing so maybe that tells it's own story :)

got called away earlier but would like to add... the punter/customers respects honesty so if you haven't got the track tell em' blame the post, crappy management organisation, anything!!! but yourself, lol, but don't keep them hangin around for a track your not gonna play, least of all one you haven't listened to and checked out yourself.
thing is your encouraged to switch off your wifi, lol.

Didn't we go through this with Napster?
Third party sources can be unreliable and tough to deal with.
This was not intended to be $299 software that comes with a full dj library.

Exactly Rick,
Netsearch is there for a reason, but should not be relied upon. It clearly states this in the EULA.

So back to the original question asked: is this going to get fixed and when?
regardless of weather this is supposed to be a piece of software with a full music library with it or not, it's an advertised feature of the software which people have paid a sum of money for. Personally, for the ammount of money I paid, i would like to see some support.
As far as i know, the current issue is as a result of the youtube code changing slightly. All that should need changing within virtualDJ is how it parses the page to extract the video. I don't know how long that would take but surely not over a week.
VirtualDJ has a number of customers that have all paid over £100 a pop for this piece of software, thats a fair chunk of money going towards the developers, surely one of them could find a few hours of time to correct this problem.
Thank.
Dom.

Don't agree on that one, if you have access within VDJ to play virtually any song/video at a moments notice then why not embrace that technology. There have been many times over the past few months where customers have asked for bangin' tracks and remixes that had passed me by. The power to have the entire world of music at your fingertips is awesome and greatly missed during any downtime.
Customers are always dissapointed when you say you havent got a record.....since netsearch I can always say yes and if I havent heard it before will tell them i'll check it and play it if it fits......simples. DJ's should be open minded when it comes to requests you havent heard before. I tend to find that punters are sometimes even more on the ball than you and 9 times out of 10 the song they ask for is a potential player!
As a side note I rarely stream a track "live" from netsearch, I search, load it up to check quality of the first few bars and if good right click it in the search panel and "download to cache" that way i've always got it for next time and there is no chance the music will stop/change volume etc.
The feature is killer if you get your head round it!!!!!!
I work in a nightclub and are always connected to the internet. Not so useful for mobile DJ's i guess lol.

sorry, never used it don't intend or need to, if i get a request and i haven't got it the customer knows i will have it the next night or the following week, running to two in the morning at the weekends gives them enough scope for other requests which makes up for any other disappointments, i think guys running mobiles may have access to the internet just as much as people working in bars or clubs.

So Is it being looked into or not?
Inviato Thu 08 Apr 10 @ 11:59 pm
If you don't like and don't use Netsearch then why are you bothering to read AND reply to a topic about Netsearch? Bored or just feeling superior?
By the way, VDJ is looking into the problem. The last time this happened it took about a month to fix.

Muppet, expressing my views on a subject is a crime, I've even offered advice on a temp fix for guys who are experiencing problems and that makes me superior, you want to read a thread completely before making play ground allegations at someone. All of my posts I like to think give advice or direct help to a user this one is no different, don't make it personnal, I haven't.

So then....for the 4th time:
Is it being worked on and when can we expect the fix?
C'mon guys, this is in the tech support forum, posted over a week ago, and (forgive me if I'm wrong) i don't see an official response answering the question originally asked.
I thought the £200+ money i've forked over for this software would have got me some tech support.
to quote from an Atomix Production page:
"This site gets indeed more than 5.000.000 pages viewed per month, and more than 15.000 messages posted on the forums per month.
More than 1.000.000 forum users are registered, and they represent the early-adopters of this targeted market that is computer DJing.
As for the software, more than 50 millions uses are recorded from computers connected to the Internet (and without firewall) per year."
Assuming just 0.5% of forum registered users have paid around £200 each, that still equates to £1million (thats nearly $1.5million) made.
For that ammount of money, i would at least expect a response to a tech support question posted over a week ago, even if it is just "we're sorting it out"
