I will be using VDJ Pro Full for music and video. I do a lot of video shows and will probably be adding something to run ambients when playing a song without video so that something is always happening on the screen.
I have a couple of questions before purchasing the lap top.
Do I need a machine with 2 sound cards so that I can cue while the program song is playing through the PA system?
Do I need 2 video cards so that I can cue a video while the main video is playing on the screen viewed by audience?
From what I understand I don't need these but want to be sure before I start spending money. The system I have been using for 8 years has 2 cards for each.

No, you don't - not to mention the fact that there aren't any laptops with 2 sound cards. You'll need an external USB or Firewire sound card with at least 2 stereo line outputs.

No. Virtual DJ has internal video mixer, so you can see the video you're queing on your laptop screen and main output will go to your external monitor.

Hold on? What do i have? I got two external sound outputs on my Dell Studio 1558 (I didn't want the 17) with an i5. I'm going with the best i7 Dell Studio 17 inch with the best video/hdmi output going. I would say i5 is your minimum cause I'm doing what you want and I'm still wanting more.
I got one v7 (that acts as two), I'm buying the second and the matching mixer to match but first I'm upgrading the computer to an i7...ipad is also involved too! not bad for a bedroom/weekend Dj....and no i didn't buy this stuff through dj'n I do QA/QC and they pay for my toys.
in short if you got the money get the studio as they are made for Music and studio type work.
