Hi,
I recently purchased a Hercules DJ Control Steel and I now need a soundcard for it. I was browsing amazon and found this product: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Behringer-UCA202-BEHRINGER/dp/B000KW2YEI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1302472297&sr=1-1
Would it be a suitable piece of hardware for my needs? Are the two outputs independant from each other so I can moniter a deck and have the actual output out of the other?

This sound card only has 1 stereo output (2 out (L/R mono) = 1 stereo), so it is not suitable for your requirements. The other two connectors are inputs for an audio signal.
For headphone pre-listening, you will need a sound card with at least two stereo outputs (4 out), such as Numark DJIO, Native Instruments Audio 2 DJ, etc.

Thanks for the reply. I do very much like the look of the Numark card but I am unable to afford that at the moment. So, would this sound card be of use to me its a 5.1 card: http://www.amazon.co.uk/TRIXES-External-Sound-Channel-Audio/dp/B003TO3KHY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1302522094&sr=8-1

Yes, a 5.1 card will allow headphone pre-listening.
You would need to plug a pair of stereo speakers into the front speaker output and your headphones into the rear speaker output and then choose the following sound configuration:
Inputs: None
Outputs: Headphones
Sound card: 5.1 card -> Choose the name of the sound card in the drop-down list.

i bought one of these sound cards but i can't get it to allow me to listen to songs at the same time as playing through speakers at the same time. as both of the tracks play through the same output. any advice please?
