Some version of the Core 2 Duo processor support the SSE4 instruction set, improving processor capability by up to 40%.
Does Virtual DJ utilize this instruction set?
Any MacBook Pro listed below would be 40% faster with Virtual DJ if true:
(essentially, any C2D MBP made after June 5th, 2007)
2.4 GHz (T8300) Intel Core 2 Duo Penryn
2.5 GHz (T9300) Intel Core 2 Duo Penryn
2.5 GHz (T9400) Intel Core 2 Duo Penryn
2.6 GHz (T9500) Intel Core 2 Duo Penryn
2.4 GHz (P8600) Intel Core 2 Duo Penryn
2.66 GHz (P8800) Intel Core 2 Duo Penryn
2.66 GHz (T9550) Intel Core 2 Duo Penryn
2.8 GHz (T9600) Intel Core 2 Duo Penryn
2.4 GHz (P8600) Intel Core 2 Duo Penryn
2.93 GHz (T9800) Intel Core 2 Duo Penryn
3.06 GHz (T9900) Intel Core 2 Duo Penryn

c'mon technical staff, don't let me down!
really wanna get a used macbook pro, but not sure if VDJ uses SSE4...

Why does it matter if VDJ uses SSE4 instruction set or not?
In what way would a yes or no to your question influence your buy-or-not-buy decision?
Isn't it more important if the hardware can manage to run VDJ with certain amount of effects, samples, recording etc together with any other software you want during the set, without peaking CPU and other resources?
If the matter is important to you, why don't you post the question as a support ticket?

It matters because a used 2.4ghz macbookpro with SSE4 optimization cost a few hundred dollars more than a 2.4ghz macbookpro without SSE4 optimization.... and, the more expensive model claims to be +40% faster with apps optimizes with SSE4.
if i knew, it'd influence my purchasing decision.
kind of like how VDJ doesn't use more than 1 core to analyze bpms/keys.
in that case, a quad-core i7 will be using 25% of its potential due to VDJ programming.
(it influences buying decision)
i also ask to see how prolific SSE4 optimized programs are.
i mean, it's a big jump from a $600 used laptop to an $800+ laptop :D

Then it's a buy-this-or-buy-that question and you can forget almost all in my pervious post (sorry if I came through a bit harsh) and I got a bit curious too...
Have you tried to send your question to the support?

i didn't realize or understand the support system until you mentioned it.
i was running out of time, so decided to spend extra for the Penryn chip.
so... it supports it, great. if not, i have a 45nm chip machine instead of a 65nm Merom.
