i'm in your same position.
been DJing with windows for 2 years, now finally got a macbook pro.

you can copy NTFS to a FAT32 drive (which macs can read) or even install MacDisk, which lets you copy files from Windows to an HFS+ formatted mac drive.

however, the .XML database will die.
all your cue points are lost...

Traktor and Serato Scratch/Itch all write the cues (AND LOOPS) to the id3 tags within the mp3 itself.
i have NO IDEA why VirtualDJ is so behind in terms of technology, but.....

there are some text editing programs which can mass-change bits of code in the .XML to reflect the new location hierarchy
i'm not too sure how that works.

i know how to make Mac/PC iTunes work (recognizing libraries/playlists is always a huge issue), but..... with cues.... i think you're stuck.

I'm sure you'll be able to do a simple search & replace on the XML file?

There are actually advantages from a technical perspective to using an independent database rather than writing to the files themselves, so it doesn't make VDJ 'behind' in technology.

You need a Ex hard drive 1st format it to a FAT 32 on your windows then copy all your music for your windows to your new Ex hard drive 2nd open the new Ex hard dive up on your windows so that VDJ will Read All cue/info and now u have a database on the Ex hard drive 3 plug your Ex hard to your mac and trash all window info 4 copy all your music from the Ex hard drive to the mac. 5 Open VDJ with your music and ex hard drive and it will read and copy the new database to your mac. IF you have music on your mac move then and then move back after you got the new info.

what's the advantage to an external database file?
plenty of DJs will just pop a playlist to USB disk and goto a club or house party and expect their cues/loops to be there
the need for an .XML file just complicates things

Native Instruments realized that fact so well, infact, that they developed a program to transfer Serato cues (in the id3 tag) to Traktor cues (also in the id tag, but in a different way).... thus helping Native Instruments to entice Serato DJs to come over to Traktor because they would not lose their cues/loops.

external xml file just doesn't make sense to me

@asthedj: that process seems to work, but does it take into account the different file hierarchy? seems like a whole lotta copying too
