Hello there,

I'll introduce myself shortly first. My name is Kevin, or DJ Inf3rn0 if you like that better. I've always loved music, and although I always found DJing extremely cool, until now I haven't done anything with it yet. Before I got VDJ 7 Pro, I was mixing samples and creating house tracks for fun sometimes, using The Music Studio etc. at www.looplabs.com. This is an example of what I made (note that it's under my original name, DJKillah, which isn't available here): http://www.4shared.com/audio/4mKXX9As/Teamwork_in_da_House__ft_ROB_.html?

Now I've got VDJ 7 Pro, I started reading guides and tutorials, especially on beatmixing. What I can do now, is get a track on deck 1, another track on deck 2 with a bps difference of 0-4 or something, the play deck 1, put the crossfader to deck 1 completely, then in a break or in the outro of track1 I play track2 after I've synchronised it bpm-wise. Then I slowly pull the crossfader to deck2, and finally I slowly change deck 2's speed to the original bpm. This creates pretty smooth mixes, but it's really easy and I feel like there's much more to it. Can anybody tell me what I can/should do more, and how? Note that I am not using any input stuff, only the VDJ Pro 7 software and I'm not planning on buying anything either as I just don't have the money.

Regards,

DJ Inf3rn0

there are some nice videos here,
http://www.djtutor.com/

I know you aren't using any controllers or players but watching these videos can help you understand the techniques and logic behind the techniques. Then you're free to apply how ever you are able.

Good luck,
T

Hi, Hoi, Kevin,

There are lots of 'tricks' you can learn like a monkey, but since you've been making music yourself, and probably listening to lots of it, you know the effects that you want to achieve. Play around with the mix, keep the songs running together long. Dont just fade in and out, but keep it there, than 'play' with it.

Its not needed to get back to origional bmp's, unless ofcourse you are way way off or want to achieve a abrupt effect. Best thing to take note of is harmonic mixing: http://www.harmonic-mixing.com/

Enjoy

Hey/Hoi,

Thanks for the help, I'll take a look. So I'll have to find 2 fitting tracks, then beatmatch them and see how they play together nicely. I'll try some today, I'm having holiday already :D.

Trouwens goed om iemand hier te zien uit nederland xD.

Hey there, little updatish thingy, I borrowed my parent's cd collection, ripped it to my external harddisk and now I got about 1100 songs from their time including Bruce Springsteen, Bryan Adams, Electric Light Orchestra, Sinéad O'Connor, R.E.M., a shitload of marrillion, some Queen, QueensReich as well, some classic Dutch songs, and much much more. For now I've only got about 90 pop songs, but I'm getting a lot more in the coming weeks. This will result in a collection of over 1600 songs probably, that's enough for a while I think. Do you have some suggestions I should definitely get?
