Topic: VIRTUAL DJ WITH (4SET) - ABLETON LIVE (USING APC40)

Questo argomento è obsoleto e potrebbe contenere informazioni obsolete o errate.

Ok, i finally got the audio routed from VDJ to ableton live, with virtual audio cable and midi-ox . I want to use my apc40 for loops/songs/etc Problem syncing the audio if I play a track in ableton. Is this more of a ableton live issue vs VDJ? If anybody can help me solve this issue I would greatly appreciate it. I just want the beats to sync in ableton ,, Virtual audio cable is "LINE IN" in ableton, So i'm playing live audio into ableton. I just need to sync the audio with tracks already in ableton live. Any ideas? lol I think i'm going nutz trying to make this work ((maybe i'm overthinking and forgot something simple in the settings)) :)

unfortunetly no. you did nothing wrong. I have come up with two ways to do what you are wanting to do successfully but let me tell you your puter better be on the heigh end. i use my laptop with two configurations that I will explain. hit me up if this helps.
1. you must get the latest update to ableton. 8.2.5 it fixes all drag related issues with keeping time. after that it goes like this.
1 open virtual dj.get vitual audio cable. get a second soundcard with an in and out if you don't want virtual audio cables.
make sure you use ableton rewire and set it as input one. set that input to deck 4 or 6.
take decks 1,2 or all four if using 6 deck set up and route all of them individually to virtual cable 1 output channels 1,2.
set input 2 to virtual cable 2 route it to deck 3 or 5. open your rewire for ableton.
make your master and headphones use whatever you normally use. I use the NS6.
in rewire mode open settings pick what midi device you want to use for only rewire. then go to the allow multiple instances button and activate that.

then open a second instance of live by right clicking open.
open preferences and click all the midi devices you are going to use for that instance. unclick the highlighted ones that are already lit up from the rewire. for example
my rewire used just the mpd 26.
my second instance uses mpk mini lpd8 apc40 and three other midi's
then you need to go to audio and set input as virtual audio cable one
out put to virtual audio cable 2.
then get a second monitor like i have put both abletons side by side leave vdj in the main laptop screen.
put short cut keys in the mapper keyboard.
shift+3 links the ableton master to deck 3 or 6. shift plus 4 does the other. or midi map them to some hardware.
essentially what your doing is creating one big effing loop so pay attention.
what i did was basically create a way for ableton to stay in sync with vdj but also use all my maz for live and other plugings and effects. you will need to toy with how you want to run your master out. I basically made my master out only come out of deck 3 and four or 5 and 6 depending on your preference. this allows me to use all my decks all my instruments and also record in ableton while doing other stuff i really don't need to be doing.

easier way is get a good sound board like the xenyx1622fx by berringer pretty inexpensive and utilize the sub out features and pick up a few sound cards.

it uses less latency this way. again it is a solution but until someone plays nice in the damn sandbox it works pretty damn well. stable too just long initial program load times.

Another solution is to sync ableton to the audio from VDJ. I use 'BPM to MIDI VST plugin' from DjDecks. Its about 5Euro's. Its placed in the master track and sends a midi bpm back into ableton. It allows you to do timed effects etc. Using an offset (as there will be a small latency) it'll sync your ableton triggered tracks to the incoming VDJ tracks.

i know it is a little late but your welcome and beatbreaker is being honest when he says no one is being a dick. welll except for maybe beatbreaker *tongue in cheek* :p but seriously I like the way the oither guys suggested about the vst. but i did in fact find a much faster smoother lower latency way to got all sound to ableton. Not neccessarrily the beats, I really wouldn't worry about syncing that anyway as ableton is working on live 9 now and is not really going to try and actually makemore strides to fix slave clocks. But if you want fx etc then the way to go is get a simple little external dongle. $25 for your pfl. then route main to your board. then route from the board to ableton then use whatever you use as a master for the master.
I run it this way as I use two amps when I perform so I actually use control room for my bass and amp then mains for high and mids and finally my ns6 for earphones.but then how do i get fx you ask? well 2 ways my board has 100 built in fx and then there is the sub-outs on my board that are routed to ableton then returned via return hahahahahhha
peace.
