........lost half my mp3 database data on Friday night.
Added loads of new videos as I always do every Friday. Last job is always is Check, Clean, Fix the database. Then in Windows defrag then optimise the registry. Its a routine I do every Friday before my gigs.
First gig on friday (8-10pm) everything was fine. Second gig (10-2am) I had a request for Jonestown - Sweet Thang (mp3), it did not come up in the search, yet, I know I definitely have it as I've played it many times before. I then highlighted the mp3 database folder and right clicked to add to the database. To my surprise, it usually takes seconds to skip through the sub folders but this time it took ages and even froze the screen although the output screens and sound were unaffected. I then repeated the search and found the mp3, but, it did not have the analysis data. I had to re-analyse the mp3 before playing it.
I have a filter folder selection for non-analysed files, on clicking on this, to my horror, half my mp3 database showed up as not analysed!!! Luckily, I mainly play videos.
I have now re-installed 7.04 as I've never had a problem with that version. My computer has been going flat out for over 2 days re-analysing the affected mp3s. I've also made a copy of the completed xml file just in case.
Not happy with this.
P.S. This was with version 7.05b installed on a boot camped Apple Macbook Pro with Windows 7

Jonestown - Sweet Thang
Thanks for that - I've just discovered another good tune to play!
Seriously, I've never heard this before.
Bit of a rip off (Sister Sledge, Oran Juice Jones) but it's well sung.

And why would you think that 7.0.5b would be the cause for the issue. I can tell you that it wouldn't have mattered if you search for it during your first gig or second gig OR which version of VirtualDJ you had installed. The problem existed before you ever started your day. You just happen to come across it because someone asked for a song that in not in your regular list of to be played.
And, why do you Defrag and Optimize the registry before every gig??
Are you using your system when not doing gigs where your adding and deleting a lot of files on a regular basis?
Are you installing and uninstall software on a regular basis?
Might point is that when you run utilities that are manipulating your environment you are actually inviting risk not preventing it. If this machine is dedicated to only DJ'ng then stop running those utilities. You have just been lucky up until now when you finally noticed the problem.
When it comes to the 'Check,Clean,Fix' in VDJ, I can understand the 'Check', but unless you are re-organizing or removing files on a regular basis - no reason for the 'Clean'. And 'Fix' only if the 'Check' gives you an indication that something is wrong.
I have had numerous DJs doing similar types of 'validations' and 'cleaning' and when I have asked them to stop running the environment manipulating tools - their problems have stopped.
I know, you know what you are doing ... just trying to offer a perspective and information. Can't tell you why or how it happened exactly, and that is unfortunate; but it had nothing to do with the latest version being installed.

Well no DJ can know every song in existence!
And no matter how many songs you add to your collection each week, there's always something that can slip through the net.
(checks book) It only got to number 48 in the UK!

Because I never, ever had a problem with the previous version obviously.

Sorry, incorrect assumption Chris, as I have a filter folder that lists any files not analysed. The program defaults to this filter on startup, therefore, I always know if there is any files that need analysing. There was no problem on the first of my gigs on Friday and there didn't appear to be any problem when I started my second gig i.e. the filter folder did not show any files needing analysed.

No not before every gig, but before every weekend. And yes I am always adding new videos every week. Not installing/uninstalling any software. Just good sensible housekeeping from my point of view.

Completely disagree with you on this one. So I've just been 'lucky' for 4 years??? That to me is just rubbish.
Yes, I am reorganising and/or removing files on a regular basis as already mentioned.

Really, you sure about that??? I have had other indications of this version not being quite right. Every time I try to close the program at the end of a gig I get an error box from Windows telling me that the program is not responding. I've never had this with ANY previous versions.
JEEZ, EVEN THE WEBSITE QUOTES AINT WORKIN RIGHT!!!
Quotes repaired - incorrect syntax being used -SAM
