hi i was wondering if i could hook up just my mixer to virtual dj ????? its a numark m6 usb . so far nothing is working

The Numark M6 has built-in USB sound cards that you can use. However, it is not MIDI capable, so the on-screen controls in VirtualDJ will not move. Please see: http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/Soft%20Take-over%20or%20Non-MIDI%20Mixer.html
