Topic: Anyone into ebm industrial music would help me learn how to do good mixes?

Questo argomento è obsoleto e potrebbe contenere informazioni obsolete o errate.

I'm just starting to learn how to mix.....my passion is industrial music, I made some mixes, they're not that complex since I'm a beginner but I would appreciate feedback and tips, but please no criticizing 'cause as I said I'm a beginner, I'm just trying to improve so I would like tips and suggestions from experts.
I have a youtube channel

youtube.com/ciernyanjel07

I will upload some of my mixes if you want to check them out and give me some useful tips....if you're interested check my channel and send me a message there so I'll post some mixes.
Music, and especially industrial music (with all its subgenres) is a passion, I'm kinda new in this (started to seriously be into industrial in September), it is very important to me, I'm thinking of becoming a good musician one day.

Thanks in advance

I love industrial music myself. I feel there is great, raw emotion in the music. With a heavy song, it's so powerful and energy-packed. I'm from America and I'm a little sad to see that it has taken a far back seat to almost everything.

I'm not much more experienced than you, however I have realized a small way to enhance this type of music: Samples, loops, cue drops.
There is SOOO much you can do there. Industrial music has some great verses. I love to take a line from one song and periodically drop it in. Then when it feels right, I drop the next track in a way that would co-inside with the previous track.

For example, If i played http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zsd5CMzpfys (Cyber-Industrial-Dark Electro) as a frist track, when 1:50 hits, there is a great instrumental that is "blank" of lyrics. I would take that opportunity and drop in a line form a different song such as http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Ism2I3HCGU&feature=related (Combichrist - This is my rifle) ( this song has a great lyrical intro taken from the movie "Full Metal Jacket", perfect for a sample. Then this second song begins such a nice tempo-beat beat and good progression.

You could use ANYTHING as a line though. A really, REALLY, ridiculous example of this would be: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xAeRU4Drss8 (I NEED MORE THUNDERBOLTS!). Since industrial songs usually have such lyrical or spoken intros, you could drop this in and play around. You can replace intros, make your own, mix them up, EQ fade them, voice over, modulate, ANYTHING you can think of.
You can do so much crazy stuff with this.

One more note--but a personal opinion-- I love the way that industrial flows into dubstep. The two I feel are so closely related. If you took the drop from http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LaIZ0mUJzr0 (Skrillex remix of Cinema) as a great example when you can drop some more popular things into industrial. Hell, I even start that song right at 3:16 so you get that awesome "DROP THE BASS" and then the orgasmic drop. I'll probably get a lot of heat for this, but holy sh*t can a crowd move to some awesome stuff.
Let me know if this helps you out!

Best wishes, Good Luck! d(^^d)

P.S: I really hate it when people do not share even the smallest piece of information :<

Thanks for the reply, what you wrote is very interesting. My problem for the moment is that I have no good softwares or other gear, I mean, everything is very limited and I feel like I'm stuck somewhere and can't go any further, my creativity feels about to explode but it has to be there trapped 'cause material does not allow me to go beyond a certain limit.
For example, I only use Virtual Dj home free edition, I do not have anything else, only that, a computer, and the songs I like.
I can't afford much, but I hope I'll buy FL studio as soon as possible and start creating my own music, which is my greatest dream.

Industrial music is the most amazing thing on this earth. I used to listen to metal and rock all the time and I thought nothing could beat them, but when I started to listen to industrial all the time, I thought I was wrong. I thought metal was in my blood, but now I know that industrial is the one that flows in my veins.

I like dubstep too and I mixed Combichrist - Electrohead with Datsik - Havoc.
Here it is:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nb1d86abavo&feature=youtu.be

as you can hear, it's still simple and I couldn't add that much, and it's the same for the other mixes.

I started to listen to this kind of music back in September 2011 and I started doing remixes and stuff immediately after discovering this music. Then I stopped for a while and now I'm back again, improving, I hope.

As I said before, I find myself limited because of lack of good material, but I hope I'll get something in the future.....
