I gave a test run of Virtual DJ 7 and like it.
It has an option to output video to a window, and save recordings but..
There isn't an option to select which video output device we'd like to use,
either master video out is on or off.
Perhaps you can add a Select Output Device feature in the next release
so users can decide where they want the Master Video Out signal to go.
The list could include Video Window, and a list of all available video cards in the system user can select from.
This would illiminate hastle.
A list of available Display Adapters to choose from would be helpful
so we can directly select which adapter we want the Mater Video Output to go.
Maybe you can even throw Record to Disc in the list of adapters, let people select their saving format, file saving location, and dimensions in dpi.
When we record, we don't know what we're going to get.
Another feature that might be good would be to allow users to scroll through video without affecting any audio.Perhaps an Unlink From Audio feature would work. When we load in videos, we're stuck with what we load in, often times, we'd need a way to scroll through a video to select a region we'd like to work with. We'll need a way to scroll through video, unlinking it from audio, then after we find where we'd like the start of the video to occur, we can find the location of the video we'd like to use, then click back on a Link To Audio checkbox which would cue up the video separately from audio. You guys should be able to do this easily.

I have a USB video Adapter for video in/out, but there's no way to assign Master Video Out from Virtual DJ to it.
A list of available display adapters to choose from would be excellent instead of only having the default video window.
You should allow us to select the dimensions of master video out too. We don't know what we get in video out window.
Thanks

Selecting the video output device is already possible in the full VirtualDJ Professional.
Home FREE only supports video output to a small video window.
To be able to output video full-screen and choose the output device, you will need to purchase the full VirtualDJ Professional: http://www.virtualdj.com/buy/index.html

This is not directly related to the above posts but I assume I can suggest features for VDJ 8 on this forum.
I would really like to see some serious HD video recording capability. At the moment even using ffds the video recording is very unreliable, unstable and very much SD. At the moment to record video in HD I have to use an external screen capture recorder (normally used for gaming) and then convert the file into something smaller. This works well except for a very slight audio degradation (the loss is visible when you put the original and recorded track side by side in the scratch window, but I don't really notice the difference in sound quality by ear).
If this is possible using external software I do not see why it cannot be built in - the trick really is to do the compression after the recording is completed. So the initial file size is quite large (about 1GB per minute) but it that will compress nicely to about 25MB per minute. With todays hard drive capacity I am sure any VJ would be happy with this space requirement for when the video is recording.
If you don't try to compress during the recording then it does not overload your CPU/GPU and hence does not slow down or degrade the video.
At the moment what I can see is that VDJ tries to record and compress at the same time. The VDJ internal option of recording in uncompressed mode has never worked for me.
I have a GEFORCE GTX 560M graphics card with 16GB of RAM and an i7 processor. So I do not think the hardware is the problem. The above mentioned the external recording software works flawlessly and does there is no stuttering in the video or audio at all.
The main reason I do video recording is to combine a music video with a remixed version of the song, so that I can then play it at a gig with better audio than the original video would give you.

This is another feature I would like to see which is to do with Video.
Apart from linking a video with the audio it would be great if you could set the start point that you want the video to start at. This way you can sync stuff up nicely.
The ability to do this at multiple points in the song would be an added bonus.

My final request for VDJ 8 would be to allow you to select sections of a song and record the bpm for those sections. This would really help with the mixing of these tracks. Strangely Virtual DJ is known for each bpm matching and other software lovers tend to diss this. But on regular CDJ's the tracks current BPM is always measured and shown while a track is playing!

We have a dedicated forum for feature requests ;)
