1) On the default skin of VirtualDj just right-click on the BPM button on the deck with the track you want to check/change...

Thanks, I found the thread here:

http://www.virtualdj.com/forums/163325/General_Discussion/Not_understanding_shuffle_vs_automix_.html

but that's simply what I am doing now:

1] I select my folder of tracks in the middle pane, hit the bpm button on the top right of my tunes list, select all songs in the list and drag to the right side pane [playlist].

2] I then hit the "Playlist Managment" button and choose "Smart" from the "Automix type".

3] I then hit the icon with the lightning bolt, it highlights to a "green" color and the first track starts playing.

Is there anything I am missing here? Meantime I am going to try the Edit BPM option mentioned, get back to you in a couple.

I am not seeing those options on my end, please see pic:

Try allowing the "mix tempo" option in that box...

Yes, doing that with 2 tracks, the autobeatmatching occurs but I can't do this with 14k tracks in my collection? As mentioned the autobeatching worked fine the last time I used VDJ so something's up somewhere, I emailed VDJ Support for help this morning, waiting on their reply.

Well, just looked at the support ticket and this is their answer:

there has nothing changed on our side.
Automatic can't be "perfect" all the time like a Dj can do ;-)

Please have a look to page 19
http://www.virtualdj.com/images/pdf/VirtualDJ%207%20-%20User%20Guide.pdf

SMART – VirtualDJ attempts to determine the optimal mix point based on the outro of the current track and intro of the upcoming track – mix time varies from ~4 to ~8 secs depending on the tracks

So I am totally confused now, why did the same exact playlist work for me last time but don't now when nothing has changed?

It's a bit odd, I've never had to manually allow tempo mixing on my system - I just set it to smart mode, and as long as the bpms aren't wildly different, it works. Perhaps it's time to try the old standby method of repairing things - uninstall and reinstall virtual dj. Your vdj database shouldn't be affected by this, but just in case, make a copy of it and keep it somewhere safe!

Yea, I think that's the best advice, also I think there's a new update available now but I was holding off getting the latest version on my music pc because I am thinking of getting a new laptop soon and don't want to have licensing issues.

Oh don't let that worry you - you can install and reinstall to your heart's content without it mucking up your license key. Atomix ask us to install to no more than 2 machines at once with one license key, but it's not like the old PCDJ system where you were physically locked out after two installs - they trust us not to be silly with it!

Well then, guess I'll have to try.
