One of my gripes with ALL software is Why can't they all use the same library management tools. Why do I need to set the same cue points over and over just cause I switched software or am using some else laptop? It sucks and it's a pain in the ass but it looks like Pioneer and Traktor are listening to the end user (US). Read on and then share your thoughts........ http://djworx.com/rekord-buddy-the-traktor-and-rekordbox-converter/

I guess it's a bit like the way Apple works. Keep databases proprietary so it is a major hassle for people to move on.

Having everything in the tags or easily convertible databases would be bliss but I'm not holding my breath.........

From the article:

"it seems like Rekord Buddy should be able to do a 3-way translation soon enough. Seems that Virtual DJ is missing from the translator game though, unless anyone can tell me otherwise."

Which is too bad, since the VDJ DB format, even though quirky, is pretty straightforward to reconstruct.

I try to keep it simple, this is not a priority, or even on my thought process. Why do I have to have so many keys? I want my house key to open my storage unit, and start my car. It's called life and I live it. I'm not worried about every little issue in life. This is just another company that wants me to buy their product. It has seized on a very small issue, and made it a big one. This actually is a good business move, but that is what it is. Late night infomercials, come to mind. Buy my product, and your problem will go away, but only with Tracktor, and (this is a big and) only with Mac. C'mon, you are crying about proprietary on one hand, and selling me proprietary with the other hand. At least use some smoke, and a mirror if you are going to try this trick.

Next Audio Labs is not Pioneer or Native Instruments - its an independent company that has made the NI:Traktor proprietary format translatable to the RekordBox proprietary format.

NI has already built a Serato to Traktor importer, which seems to have gone into a defunct status after the most recent SSL updates.

And then I find this Pioneer article that has a three step process to go from Serato to RekordBox -- which first you go from Serato to Traktor through Rekord Buddy to RekordBox -- gesh!

Because we are all different when it comes to the individual ways to identify KEY data points and/or features settings of our respective software products. I get your point and your gripe - but it just part of the business. And is one of the marketing points of everyone's products and in some cases an intended selling point on why to choose one over the other.

Yeah I hear ya Chris, for the most part I everything the same, it's taken some time but there pretty much identical libraries.

And Thanks A Man for the ramble, always entertaining............ Cue the gong.
