After much discussion with our djs and owners, some of us are willing to use this on the club computer and the owner is getting other software for the djs that do not have a 300 dollar license and do not want to buy one.
We all share the house computer as per management, with laptops as back up. We play videos.
With VDj8 I see a few issues that make it a bit tough for us as multiple users...AND...for normal video club play.
1- no clipbank. We currently use 7 to play either a slideshow or clipbank advertisements throughout the night. We flip through many continuously. However 8 offers no clipbank (yet). For the moment the owner says no to vdj8 until we can use it to put out ads.
2- multiple users with 8 can be harrowing. There are so many settings (which is awesome) and things to do with it... However, the time it takes to reset the program to what you want (and the notes needed to remember it all) makes it not very good for multiple djs.
The profiles plug in was great, but I do not see one for vdj8 (yet).
3- we are still worried about our very poor internet at our club. Not only is it intermittent, we do have issues with the provider lately where it just goes out. So if one guy logs out, the other cannot log in, we are dead in the water. So definitely would have to keep vdj7 around so we could actually play music in the club without issues. That kinda is a bummer.
I am going to install it next week in the club computer and start testing it before we open, but obviously we cannot use it yet due to the great abilities of vdj7. Those abilities the owners now demand (lol) and vdj8 is falling short, mainly on the clipbank thing.
The other djs will be using serato I think (not sure what they are pulling in) and they may just get us all on it to avoid any issues. (something I would rather not do, but the EULA prevents multiple users in club settings and that log out/log in for each one has the owner spooked and the cheap djs not going to pay 300 dollars just to use it at the club).
Is there club license in the future?
Is clipbank or multiple profiles likely to be added in the near future?
Lastly, I know there is an option available from support for a text file or something to be used to log in when internet is not going to be available, but in a multiple dj setting I don't see how that would really work without having all the text files for all the djs on the computer (easily stolen, not gonna happen).
Like the sound, its getting more stable for sure, just hoping to get it fluffed up enough so we can use it at the club.
