In version 7, I was able to display a .jpg image on a deck just like a video. This gave me the ability to crossfade between images and video files. Is this possible in 8.1?
I already added (.jpg) to the codecs, and it displays the image in the "cover" area, but displays "ERROR" on the deck and does not output to video.

I don't think you can load a JPG file (drag it to a deck, it does not even display on the browser to be selected even in V7).
Did you just want to to display ONE image ? Where (second screen, or your screen) ?
If you have slideshow running and you playing video on the other deck, when you crossfade to the other side it will display the picture.
I guess I don't know what you are trying to do.

VirtualDJ 8 doesnt use external codecs and cannot load Image files to decks.
You can drop the image to a Sampler Slot and display/trigger it from the Sampler

Well shoot. I know this was possible in V7... I did it many times.
Here is the scenario...
I am running a "Night At The Races" fundraising event. The horses are all purchased and named prior to the event by attendees. I create a graphic of each race with the horse names and numbers. Then, after all bets are placed, I play the pre-recorded race video. Then, I display a graphic of the finishing order with horse names, race sponsors etc. It's a lot of crossfading between videos and graphics that was very easy in V7. I may have to reinstall 7 just for these events then?

ok, so a somewhat simple fix... I just rendered each JPEG image as a 1 second MPEG2 video file.
But, I would love to see this feature added to VDJ8. Would have saved me about an hour of work.
(Still love VDJ though)

It was a very convenient and fast function, on many occasions we do not have time to organize photos jpg with the sampler ...
I hope the Team increases the function
