Make the Video Output a non-full window (double-click and resize it to a smaller size), so that you can see the Desktop background.on your 2nd screen

Does the screen go fully black if you make the above, or just the Video Window ?

just the player part goes dark, the library side stays the same through out. I have it set for extended desktop, using a mini vga adapter for one monitor, and hdmi to my 2nd screen. I use virtualdj 7 nights a week, so far tonight, has not gone black. Never had any problems before using only audio files, lately since using videos, it has become persistent. I have the latest drivers for my video card, constantly update as soon as the update is available.

First time posting here! What version of Windows are you using? Assuming it is Windows and not a mac. If in Windows 10, you'll need to see what settings are under: Power Options, When To Turn Off The Display and a few other settings within there. Plugged In - Turn Off Display - change that to 5 hours or Never, as I'm guessing that it is set to something like 10 mins. Choose Adjust Plan Brightness too, change the slider to the right. Put The Computer To Sleep - change that to 5 hours or Never. Save Changes. Keep the plan on Balanced, not on Eco or you can choose High Performance then adjust settings in there as above. Check the refresh rate also of the display software, make sure you have it set to between 59khz and 75khz depending on the stats of the monitor, if it can handle the higher refresh rate. Click on Display, Screen Resolution, List All Modes. See what options you have in there. Also, check under the Monitor tab, and Monitor Settings, Screen Refresh Rate under the dropdown.

What is the manufacturer of the mini usb VGA adapter? Is it Display Link? Check the settings and also for the latest driver. May be worth using that on a powered USB hub (connected to the laptop), rather than the VGA adapter straight to a USB port on laptop, as it will drain more power from the laptop.

Let me know how you get on.

sorry for the delay in replying, yes using Windows 10, all power options set accordingly, screen refresh is at 60khz, as for mini vga, its a Belkin, got the latest updated driver for my vid card as well, its Nvidia GTX 750. all options are by factory default, the player just randomly switches on top to all black and white and video on my screen goes dark, video on tv stays the same, also lately having trouble with automix, long songs being cut short, and about 5 hours in, player stops playing sound when automix is on, have to close and reopen program.
