I don't know shet, and don't need to know.

This is what I know. I live everyday as if it was my last. I'm not doing anything world changing or ground breaking. I do what I like, and sometimes that's watching TV until 6am and petting my dog (I actually mean a dog, you know 4 legs with wagging tail). If you have the time and you want to do the research as to which is the best video codec, that is fine with me. I really don't care what the best codec is. I buy content almost everyday, because I am a working DJ. Every site I know, provides mp4 or h.264. I figured that they know more than I, so that is what I use. There is no way I am using my precious time converting videos that the world thinks is fine, into something else. For what, so I can still use an older computer?

I'm from another time, where if it's not broke, you kept it and used it. I still have a hard time letting that philosophy go, but I do every day. You see, when I was young, I thought I had a lot of time. No, my grand kids don't care about vinyl and turntables. The technology that I saw as a kid, is here now. My laptop will be two years old next month, and I'm thinking about getting a new one. There is nothing wrong with it now, but why should I wait for it to start acting up? What's the life cycle of a USB port? Day in and day out, setting up, tearing down. Maybe just get a new one and use this as a great backup.

So if Divx or AVI is your thing, by all means enjoy yourself. Maybe that is what gives you pleasure. Who am I to judge?

I know I'm not making the best use of my time AMAHM, but it's keeps me happy.
It should be noted that this path leads to the video effects created by people like Tayla.
One in particular is very important to me..the birthday cake.
Mind you they probably use MP4 H264.

Blender is a free video editor which may be good enough to create video effects?
