I've been out of DJing for years (work, family etc) and want to get back into it. I'm a bedroom DJ, nothing else. I love TTs and would like to stay with those. However, I love hot cues. Love the DDJ- SX2 with the 8 pads but way above my price range. What controller can I get that has the 8 pads that I can set cue, effects etc and still connect to TTs (timecode). I do not need a jog wheel, but won't mind one. Basically a cheaper alternative to the SX2.

Dicers are trash, id say go for the DDJ SP1.
At least with that you get fxs, loops, hot cues, hot loops, sampler and video fxs plus transitions.
Way for functionality.

I did forget to mention my current setup, apologies for that
I have a Hercules MK2 controller (hate it) with 2 Numark TT-200 and a 2 channel Numark mixer (can't remember the model).
Willing to change the MK2 controller. Right now it's only purpose is to connect the TTs to VDJ. I use no controls on it
I looked at both Dicers and DDJ SP1.
To me the SP1 looked like exactly what I wanted. Just didn't know how it will work with my current setup. It looks like an extra channel input rather than a controller. If so how do I control tracks 1 and 2, or is it automatic?
The dicers layout seems clumsy to me. I prefer the grid type pattern. Of course I could be totally wrong. Maybe for TTs the dicers is better. I don't know. Obviously it's a personal preference thing.
I looked at some videos and still wasn't too clear on them. But I'll do some more research on both and see which one works

If given a budget I'd say the highest I'm willing to go is 500.00 So don't know if that helps any

then the zero cost option is remap the mk2's buttons to something you want them to do.
BTW the sp 1 covers both left and right decks.

The dicers and pio are just midi controls no mixer fucntion. Most controllers with DVS are big clunky 4 channel controllers, dont know how comfortable that will be? But there is the vestax vci380, vestax is defunct but the controllers are still better than most and the 380 has dvs.

Problem here is the mk buttons are horrible. You have to press and I mean PRESS the cue button for it to work (from day 1 this was an issue and why I hate it)
I can't tell you how many cues I've missed because I didn't press hard enough
I want to touch the buttons

I prefer the size of a 2 channel mixer (battle mixer I think they call it) and maybe a controller 'on top' of that rather than a clunky wide controller. The vestax is old (only available used) and expensive ... and I'd prefer something new and more affordable

So after some checking I stumbled on the Reloop Jockey 3 Remix Controller
This seems to be what I'm looking for. It looks like 4 pads as opposed to 8 but I think that should be enough.
Anyone has any experience with this unit?

I understand, but dont front on vestax, even used. every controller out now are getting the ideas from the vci400. built very well and worth every penny.
but anyway those reloop pads nice and the pio pads are all you would need. With big eyes there is also the pio djm-s9 but thats around 1600.
There are other pad controllers but the workflow seems uncomfortable Like the new akai stuff.
But getting a mixer with an audio interface and those pio pads would be your best bet.

I'm using the Reloop Neon with my DVS setup.
Small and cheap Midicontroller with RGB LEDs.
Perfect for setting and calling HotCues or trigger every other Pad Page pad.
Setting loops of different length is possible too.
I'd say go for a reloop neon it is cheaper as the pioneer, has coloured LEDs and you can easily switch between 4 decks with the 1-4 select buttons on the left side of the controller.
