so i've bought a new laptop 2gb dedicated graphics, specs in image below
i've optimized my new laptop for DJ use, i also use the PC Optimizer, VDJ is directed to use the high performance nvida card, which is showing that it's active in the nvida icon when i run VDJ
i've ran into a problem and it's 100% VDJ8 causing the issue, running HD video or any video for that matter, when VDJ is maximised it runs cpu all the way upto 40-45%
when minimised it goes all the way down to 11-15% any suggestions?
thanks

What's the skin FPS set to? What skin are you using? Sounds more like a graphics card issue to me (I had something similar with Ableton Live).

how can it be a graphics card issue when the laptop is brand new! only happens when VDJ is open
FPS is set at 30 default not touched it and i'm using the zoom skin on 2 decks

I missed in your first post what problem you are having?

cpu high usage when maximised read it properly

update your drivers especially video

I understand, but you don't mention the problem that this high cpu usage is causing. Do you have sound drop outs, stuttering video, ...? (Also in the title you say 100%, but in your post you say 45%)
Also, did you check in task manager, performance tab which frequency the processor is running at that time?
For playing video, make sure useDXVA is set to yes if you want to reduce cpu usage.
It does seem high though, with both integrated grahpics and nvidia I get around 5% in task manager for vdj with 2 720p video's running. (i7 with 8 threads, so on an i5 I would expect around 10%)
Is it also doing it with the default skin?
In the browser status display, does it say it is analyzing files perhaps?
Inviato Sun 27 Nov 16 @ 2:44 pm
i meant 100% as in VDJ is the problem and nothing else, actually nothing else is running except VDJ
video freezes, jerky, out of sync
when minimised nothing like this happens as the CPU drops all the way down, again when maximised the CPU is hitting 40-45%
Clock speed 3.0 ghz
DXVA is set to yes already
not tried default skin but will i will try it, no it doesn't say analyzing as i haven't added any to be analyzed i only added one video to my desktop to check this out as i was having this problem last night everything in the database has been added from my previous laptop VDJ database
edit: even with default skin it's still the same

Right click battery options, Select High Performance. Then click change plan settings. Then click change Advance power settings. Scroll down to Processor power management. Minimum everywhere: 25% Maximum 90%.
Then close optimizer and never use it. You don't need it. Also, If you have antivirus (except windows firewall/essentials) disable it while DJing and preferably uninstall.
*Also it cant be a virtual dj issue because then we would all be having the same issue.

already on high performance, like i said i've optimised it for DJ use already before even installing VDJ, antivirus as nothing to do with it that uses zilch CPU, if i don't need pc optimizer why is it available to download on here then? pointless been on here if it's not needed, listen it's VDJ that's only thing that runs up the bloody CPU if i close VDJ the CPU goes to 0% CPU

Oh well if you're so knowledgeable about what's happening, then you clearly don't need our help.
Coming on here with an attitude is not the way to make others feel like helping you.
You initally asked for suggestions, but questioned mine. You told the CTO of Atomix to read your post properly.....
Calm down! Like PressNPlay said, if it was "100% VDJ" causing the issue then we'd all be suffering from it - but we're not.
The difference between results when max/min is what makes me think it's your graphics. I'm speaking from experience.
Is your GPU using manufacturers drivers or Microsoft? Try one and the other. Delve into the graphics settings and check them. Turn various options on or off to see if it makes any difference. You may need to reboot when doing this.
Can you play videos cleanly using other software? Is there a CPU difference when mix/maxing that software?

coming on here for help but never get any, it's you that has the attitude i'm just explaining what i've done sorry if it comes across that i have attitude but i'm not meaning it like that, all you seem to be doing is blaming my graphics card for the last time it has nothing to do with my graphics card, because the video plays perfectly fine in media player with CPU at 8% so now explain to me how it cannot be VDJ8 that's hogging the CPU when VDJ is maximised and again like i said i am using the high performance card done in my graphics control panel/3D setting/ and i've set VDJ to use the high performance card

The optimizer was originally designed for Vista and Windows 7. It says it in the description. It doesn't do anything special other than shut down ip services like dropbox and lower the use of graphics by changing windows themes.
Like i said, you don't need the optimizer. Nobody uses it anymore. Most of us jumped on Windows 10 way long time ago so we know what we're talking about.
If you check the settings i wrote you and you see that they aren't like that then you should change them. Another thing is to check your graphics card like someone wrote above. Might be a wrong setting there. The best person to help you here is Adion. And again, none of the other users are having these issues. I video DJ 15-35 hours a week with no issues.

is DXVA on?
the purpose of DXVA is too offload video intensive processes like you are preforming from the processor lowing the CPU usage.
if that's not happening something has to be wonky.... Drivers, settings, something
also in my experience windows updates sometime reset you power profiles so assuming they are set correctly because you have done it before isnt enough you will need to verify.
also you said this is a new Laptop what NVIDIA graphics card is in it? have you tried it with the onboard graphics?
things to try or not up to you really.....

yes it's on mate, and the graphics card is nvidia gforce gtx960m

The constant skin drawing is a dog and can have a negative impact on anything. Has been mentioned since VDJ 8 first came out and no one I know would do such a thing as redrawing what amounts to a complex and resource consuming thing X times per second.

Are you using the Nvidia GeForce Experience porogram? If yes can you see which version of Nvidia is there? There was an issue before. If you don't have the nvidia center app go and download it.

It's a long shot but check that auto recording your mix is not on. When you record, it jumps up to 40℅
