Topic: Virtual DJ 8.2 (Windows) Video freezing

Questo argomento è obsoleto e potrebbe contenere informazioni obsolete o errate.

Hi,

I am running Virtual DJ 8.2 on a brand new laptop but am experiencing issues with videos freezing but the audio continues playing smoothly. It is not an issue I have had before. I changed laptops as since Virtual DJ 8, it started to get a bit CPU hungry and so thought I would play it safe. Unfortunately as things have progressed my video playback has become more unstable. I have DXVA enabled, have tried maxvideomemory at Automatic and at various different levels and I have ensured it is using the Nvidia card. The laptop specs are:

Windows 10
Intel I7 Quad core 2.6GHz/3.6GHz turbo
16GB Ram
Nvidia GTX 960m graphics card

Hopefully I have just overlooked something simple. I couldn't see any other threads directly relating to this topic, but if I have missed any, could someone please point me in the direction of them. Any assistance with this issue would be very much appreciated,

Thanks
Lee

Hmm, I see a lot of this going on and the 1 thing y'all have in common is the use of the 960 Nvidia card.

I have a weak ass dual core i7 with a 745m Nvidia card and I have no problems.

Here's a sample, https://instagram.com/p/BPie17agIsO/

I have a lot going on there and I'm able to record in HD with a ton going on.

I personally think that the problem lies with that 960 card.

But hopefully someone can chime in and help you out.

First thing I would do is check you have the latest update for the nvidia. Then if that doesn't do it, there are a ton of options in the nvidia utility to optimise performance. I wish I knew what all of them do, but you can add vdj as a program and then set custom preferences making sure everything is optimised for performance.

Thanks for your responses guys. I have the latest drivers and had tried playing with the settings in the control panel. For some reason though when I add VDJ as a program in nvidia control panel it screws things up completely in VDJ so I just have to use a universal Nvidia profile.

Have had a chance to play about a bit more but had very little success. I uninstalled all of the Nvidia software and drivers and re-installed with older version 375.95 as a fresh install without the Nvidia experience software. Re-configured virtualdj to default to the Nvidia card, created a Nvidia profile for Virtualdj and now everything appears to be running stably (so far!). I can now even record video in Virtual dj which I could not before. I am hoping that this is the issue resolved. Thank you everyone for your input, it's much appreciated!

I have a whole collection of png videos 1920x1080. Some are ARGB and some are RGB.

When I play them the first time they play fine. When played a second time they always freeze. There is no reason they should be freezing. They never freeze in TellyMedia.

I am just thinking it could be clue.

I have one other YUV video that I have caused to freeze but usually never does. I was not able to repeat it but when I was looking at the problem with it, it seemed to me that VDJ had got behind and would never catch up so it appeared to freeze. Not certain though.

This video zips to only 270kb and the smallest one in file size I have. It is 1920x1080. Plays fine first time, always freezes 2nd time. When played 2nd time, it will be black (not playing) until it nears the end of the video. See if you get this same behavior with this file.

Hi Don,

Yes I have tried the video file and the same thing happens with me but the original problem does not seem to have re-appeared so I do not think the issues are related. It is strange though how the videos behave and only play once.
