Topic: Best VDJ7 Controller?

Questo argomento è obsoleto e potrebbe contenere informazioni obsolete o errate.

Hi All,

My apologies in advance that I am sure this topic must of come up many times before.
I have been using VDJ for around 5 years now. I have not progressed onto VDJ 8 - I am still more than happy with VDJ 7.
I am currently using a 'Reloop Mark 2' Controller which to be fair - is absolutely fine - although I do feel like an upgrade is needed.

The majority of use is for private parties with my own private party set up but I do different nightclubs, bars & festivals from time to time and I do use the software/hardware to mix rather than just play music.

I know everyone seems to instantly say 'Pioneer' is the go to but I don't actually know whether - are they the best? do they even work with VDJ?
Any advice or links would be great.

Thanks

This is like asking apple or samsung, xbox or playstation. Everyone will recommend what they own. Go to a store, try some out, see what works for you.

And in some extent none of the newer controllers can actually be supported by V7 even if you are determined to write support for it by your own (create your definition and mapper files)
That's because V7 lacks the tools needed from newer controllers to work properly.

Very few of the controllers for VDJ7 are still available, but of course you could look into getting a used controller

Of the ones still available at stores I would probably look at:
- Denon MC-6000 MKII
- Pioneer DDJ-SR

Generally Pioneer controller are fine, when you chosse the R, X or Z versions - but now mainly for v8 if you want a new one
They are rarely my first choice, though. I prefer the high-end Denon or Reloop controllers over Pioneer, but that's just me

bo such thing as a best controller, i know of guys who have top of the range everything and very little skills, then i know guys who have the most basic controller or a usb mixer and can rock the roof off a place.

the best controller around is your own personal weapon of choice that you are comfortable and confident with.

Appreciate the comments everyone - completely makes sense - thank you.

I am more than happy to upgrade to VDJ8 - but from a IT technical side I am not great. So I suppose my worry is getting a controller which doesn't include VDJ on the box which would need its own set up/mapping - is this a process which can be done with little complication or do you really need to know what you are doing before you can explore this kind of option?

Just because VDJ is not in the box doesn't mean the controller has no native support.

Pick a controller from the list of supported controllers in the VDJ wiki. No less than 14 all-in-one Reloop controllers for starters...
