apart from choosing songs that have a key difference of 0, or choosing songs that have a key difference of 1 and transposing them by a semitone using the new keymatch feature
what other combinations can be done in theory?
OR
is virtual DJ key difference system set up to include ALL of the combinations that work and classify them as having a key diff of 0 ?

so, the key difference of zero, indicates that they are compatible, but isnt it correct to say that its not really a key difference of zero?
if one song is in a key of C and nother is in a key of G, then the key difference is 7 ? even if they are compatible

Auto Key Matching or transposing a Key's useful for intros and sounds that don't have vocals like sound effects, instrumentals and for production. Most DJs prefer not to transpose a song, pitch too high, or use master tempo to keep the song sounding like it was recorded. It could be useful if you don't have a lot of music and in a pinch as a transitional tool or for live remixing/performance routines. If you have a lot of songs then it's not even necessary to enable this feature in most situations.
Leaving the song's native key and finding another song with a compatible/harmonic key that sounds nice is the normal mixing procedure.

+1
If you want desperately the same key like the playing deck ....
Follow that simple trick ....
With the playing song highlighted in the browser .... sort by BPM and then by KEY ...
VOUALA !

all useful tips thankyou.
i guess what i want, is to find interesting key relationships. as i see it now, VDJ doesnt tell you by itself, what the relationship is, if i understand it correctly, it tells you by labelling it at a key difference of 0, that the song is in a closely related key, but the info ends there.
it tells you what key it is of course, but unless you are very familiar with musc theory, its hard to think of this information in any kind of hierarchy (if there even is one)
so, i guess what im looking for, is to discover patterns within that, that work better than others, or work particularly well. outside of choosing songs in the exact same key, it sounds good, but for more than one or two transitions can sound very flat.

i agree 100% of course, but you know, its nice to push the boundry of what you can do as a DJ from time to time and add strings to your bow, as it were.
my goal is not to change the key of the songs by the way, but just to choose them according to their key

Here are few options to try, but it's your ear that really determines if the keys are compatible based on what kind of tracks you're playing. Intros, outros, breaks, acapellas, clapapellas, choruses, bridges, or verses may have a different key than what's being detected. The software's only a guide to get you to find something quickly, but you can get creative and find some killer combos in certain situations. Some tracks are too busy, some have too much melody/chords, or have too much low end/high end, but using filters can help you massage some blends. It's always best to stay at 0, +1, -1, or letter change to be safe, but you might as well try out some other options just to hear the outcome.
Harmonic Mixing
3A to 4A (+1 same letter)
3A to 3A (0 same letter)
3A to 3B (0 different letter)
3A to 2A (-1 same letter)

3A to 5A (+2 same letter)
3A to 1A (-2 same letter)
3A to 6B (+3 different letter)
3A to 12B (-3 different letter)
3A to 9A (+6 same letter)
3A to 10A (+7 same letter)

You can also use the drop-down arrow next to the KEY display on the deck.
This will show you all possibilities of going up or down, and whether this will be an exact match or just a compatible key to the other deck.
