I've got a HP laptop, Mackie analog mixer and usb sound card . BUT I can't get my setup to work using headphones to preview a song no matter what I do. Can anyone give a setup help?

Do you have 2 independent outputs on your soundcard? Because you need one for master and one for cue/headphones
Unless you plan to send it out as 2 channels. Then you won't get any help from VDJ, since the cueing and mixing is then done in the hardware mixer. So then it's all up to the hardware mixer to have features to support it (a DJ mixer will have that. Other mixers? Maybe not)
