Have noticed this has been an on-going problem in VDJ 1.09 and in past versions, that the mp3s DO NOT hold a constant volume whilst be mixed.
this is quite annoying as its a visible fading and change in the volumes whilst the mp3 is being played.
mp3s play normally with no change in volume via winamp.
i have sound blaster audigy and a sound blaster 128 in my pc.
therefor i would say its not the quality of my sound cards.
can someone please advise what is the best form of action to fix this highly frustrating problem.

I think there are some programs out there to normalize the audio of your mp3 tracks to one level.
Maybe that will help?
If not, just keep messing with the gain and it will be alright.

i dont think its a problem with the mp3s requiring normalisation, nor the gain. and the reason i say that, is because the volumes start out fine.
i usually have my gain set to -1.6 or -2.0
however i guess the best way to describe the problem is that the volume sounds kinda wavey.. sometimes normal, sometimes weak, and sometimes back to normal
people have wondered whats wrong with my volumes.
so i think maybe its to do with the mp3 compression maybe??
any other ideas?

Try disabling the limiter.

do we know what this 'limiter' actually limits??

As taken from the VDJ Users Manual: (The one we all get in PDF format upon installation of VDJ)
Page. 44
Limiter: Automatically limit the gain so that the sound will never go above 0dB.
It is located in your settings under the FAME settings tab, it is the 8th button from the top.

The limiter limits db's. Try for yourself. Load a track and set the limiter to on and try turning the gain past 0. Now do the same with it off you will see what it limits.
