hey djers,

I'm running DJ console MK2 on my machine right now (it runs decently well on a p4 1.8 ghz / 756 ram) but my comp only has 1.0 USB connection... i always get that "this device can peform better yada" message on most things i plug in

so my question is whether it's worth my while to invest in an externally powered usb 2.0 hub and run my console through there... will it be worth my money for whatever better performance i might get??

thanks!

1. dj console is usb 1.1, so no benefits connecting it in a usb 2.0 port
2. Usb hubs overall not recommended for soundcards.

Let me give you some light...
Usb 2.0 is NOT faster than 1.1, just the bandwith is (much) better.
Usb 1.1 allow data tranfer up to 12 Mb/sec, this is enough for 8 mono 44.1k audio channels at the same time, thats why most cards up to 4/4 (like maya 44usb, and hercules mk2) are still usb 1.1.
Cards with more channels need usb 2.0 or firewire.

if you buy a USB 2.0 hub and plug it on a USB 1.1 slot, your USB won't be faster but will be the same.

If you want to have USB 2.0 on your computer you will need to buy a USB 2.0 PCI card and plug it on your motherboard on a free PCI slot.
