Hi all!
For first, sorry for my english.
Okay, i want buy laptop fit for VDJ.
1/ generally said, what processor is better: intel pentium M or amd turion?
i think, that pentium, is it right?
2/when pentium, is better for example type core duo 1,66 or pentium M 2,0???
3/ is sufficient (adequate) processor type pentium M at 1,6? or is big different, when i using 1,73 or 2,0?
4/finally, likewisse important question, what memoir RAM?
is sufficient (adequate) 512RAM?
Okay, even last trifle, what is come before (major)? RAM or processor?
what is better add on?
PS: my soundcard is U46DJ, its okayt, right?
Thanks for any answers! pls.!

Just for using Virtual DJ, most laptops available will suit just fine that holds atleast 512 mb RAM, no matter of what processor you choose.
Depending on your needs and what else beside mixing audio, you'll probably need something slightly better.
For example, if you want to use the video mixing functions in VDJ you'll need atleast 1 gb RAM (2gb and you'll never have to worry about performance), a 128 mb non-shared graphics card.
If you wan't to use timecoded vinyls or cds I'd say also atleast 1gb RAM. If you want to use both options (control videos with timecoded vinyls), 2gb, 256mb graphics (non-shared), Dual Core processor.
Processor vs RAM i'd say that more RAM makes a bigger difference.
The newer computer the better is the motto.
A sound card with 2 stereo outputs is enough, Virtual DJ. For tcv's, you'll need a 4x mono in/out sound card.
Hope things clears out for you.

Yes in audio treatment it's better to have more RAM with a good quality than a big processor so i advise you 1024MB (2x512MB) too
If money is not a problem for you, of course a powerfull processor helps so i advise you a pentium duo core
Take the time to verify the chipset
Is the hard disc fast: RPM?
Do you intend to use an external hard disc as the size seems little?
Personnaly i advise you ASUS laptop as the compagny is specialised in motherboards so they know how to build their computers.

okay, very thanks for yours replys!
even i have one question:
what important is FSB of ram?
for example laptops with procesors AMD type have fsb 333,
with intel have 533 with pentium m or 667 with coreduo.
now am allready twigged, that ram is very important, but has FSB too such influence over power?
Thanks all and sorry for my english!

FSB is very important because it means speed! So, higher the FSB, better speeds memory have. If you have money, go for 667 with DualCore Pentium.

Hi there..
Like our friends said before...if money it´s not a problem...buy the best you can! But, If you are thinking about best price/performance you will be OK with 1024Mb of DDRII RAM... just remember that it´s very VERY important that your laptop motherboard will accept RAM upgrades... If so...your main doubt it´s worked around, because anytime you can upgrade memory...
But once again... If money it´s not a problem... search for the best performance...! Of course...that allways have a price!

FSB = Front side bus
really important to have as high value as possible.

My vote:
For Notebook: DualCore (any, but 1.86GHz is very good option), DDR2 667MHz, Videocard ATI X1400, internal hardisk don't mater at all if you get a 7200 sata disk, better but it will be use by windows and programs only for your music and videos use an external HD 300GB.
Good Luck!

I have a Gateway laptop that runs VDJ great. Heres my setup, keep in mind I dont use video
1.8 AMD Turion
1gb ram
Maya 44 usb sound card
Chill Plate (made a huge difference)
This computer was on sale at Best Buy for $799 and i think is on sale this week again
The rest:
(2) Pioneer CDJ-800's
Denon dnx-500 Mixer
Pioneer efx-500
So far im very happy with the results

the slowest part of the computer will always be the bottleneck, which is the harddrive. so 7200rpm would be the best. then at least 1gb ram (1x1024 so you can upgrade in the future) and 1.6 core duo is good. the cpu is idle most of the time anyways. and dedicated videocard is necessary for video mixing, otherwise the intel gma950 that most notebooks currently have is good enough.
but regardless of all the hardware specs, you have to make sure windows, drivers, and other software are in good order. if your system is cluttered with junk and random files, your performance will definitely slow down.

okay, with some moneys is no problem core duo. But i have not much money, what is then minim. usable spec.? Is sufficient AMD sempron 2800+ and 512 RAM? Only for music, no videos. So that it no dropout.

Correct.
I'm using a a AMD ATHLON-M 2600+ 512 RAM

those however are the BARE minimum requirements, you sure will not able to enjoy VDJ with those kind of specs.
you can get a core duo system for ~$700, even cheaper if you buy it on ebay.

it depends, if you use that laptop only for VDJ and nothing else, you won't have problem, i think.

Ahoj Kaligula :-)
I personally use this:
http://www.czechcomputer.cz/product.jsp?artno=35118
but it's branded microbook (www.microbook.sk) but it's the same
the CPU is 1.5 GHz Pentium M (not Celeron M but it was working fine even with it)
and 1 GB of ram (previously i used 768 MB = I bought extra 512MB module and added it to the original notebook)
80GIG Harddrive.
I am very satisfied for over half and one year now.
It's small and portable.
Because I was not satisfied with SB Extigy 2ZS i just use 2 of theese:
(10$ but works and sounds good):
http://www.usbgeek.com/prod_detail.php?prod_id=0317
the sent me it to Slovakia and Postal was only 4$
OR you can buy Numark DXM 01 USB that has two USB soundcardws integrated, it's quite good.
